$100 visa giftcard giveaway

Training for the 3-Day (60 mile) Walk for Breast Cancer!

That’s right! I’m excited to announce that this first giveaway of the year is actually sponsored by Reebok, who has actually just released a sweet new line of EasyTone shoes and apparel (check it here), and are encouraging everyone to share their own ideas for making ’11 a healthier new year. I admit that I’ve never been great with New Year’s resolutions (case in point — hoped last year to learn to crochet/knit, but all I have to show for it is half of a potholder!! :S), but I do have a few hopes of my own for this year…

My main goal is to get a little more disciplined with strength training. As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of walking (partly because of the health benefits, partly because I find it a natural and therapeutic form of exercise, and partly because I’ve now recruited a bunch of friends to be walking buddies) — usually log at least 3-4 miles/day.

Unfortunately, I’m pretty inconsistent with anything beyond that. But I know that strength training is the key to just about everything, and my personal trainer friends tell me that even 5 minutes a day can make a huge difference. So, ahem – hear me now. My hope for the year is 5 minutes less a day staring at a computer, and at least 5 simple minutes getting stronger. Whoo! :)

What about you? What area of health and wellness is your focus area for this year? Is it some sort of physical exercise? Healthier eating habits? Seeking a little less stress and mental wellness?

Share your thoughts below and enter to win this giveaway!

  18. My goal for 2011 is to make myself mentally and physically stronger. I hope to do this by continuing to do pilates several times a week, eating more healthy and learning Japanese.

  19. I plan on walking daily as soon as the weather gets better.

    I must…

    * Go back to eliminating most dairy from my diet. It’s bad for my waistline and my joints (eating it gives me arthritis flares). But I LOVE cheese :(

    * Be more active. I always get myself excited about working out, psych myself up the night before “YEA! Tomorrow, I’m going to do -this- and -this- and -this-!” But like tonight, by the early afternoon I lose steam, and by evening I say “eh, I’ll start tomorrow…” and order a pizza! NO MORE!

  46. I am going to walk more regularly.. I’m already making good progress!

  47. I’ve been cutting back on portions with help of an appetite suppressant and I’m losing weight. My goal in 2011, if it ever warms up, is to fit more exercise and regular walks into my schedule.

  48. My focus for this year is to eat healthy.

  49. Working harder and playing harder are both resolutions we have for 2011, and both will lead us to a healthier new year.

  50. plan on getting more sleep, I’m getting rid of cable-and my beloved DVR-no more late nights watching HBO in bed early every night. I plan on walking to work, and eating fresh fruits and vegetables every day. I also plan on taking a good multi vitamin every day.
    kakihararocks@gmail.com

  51. I wish I had tips to share, but this is one battle I have yet to win. I’m still trying to become fit and be consistent with an exercise program. I never give up though.

  52. I will focus on eating more greens.

My soon to be 18 yr old daughter has encouraged me to begin the Zumba workout with her. I also removed my desk chair in my bedroom and am now sitting on a very large exercise ball as my chair :) All sugary drinks have been removed from my diet and I am vowing to drink water, coffee, and unsweet tea. Spinach is my new friend.

  54. I’m trying to eat better and drink more water!

  55. I plan to drink more water!

  56. I am going to get out from behind the computer and get walking!

My hope is to exercise on a more consistent basis. Like you, I really enjoy walking; however, it’s hard to get motivated (especially because I need to drive somewhere in order to walk). and, being middle-aged (ouch!), I knew you are right about strength-training. who knows, maybe this is just the incentive I needed.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  61. I plan on taking up racquetball again. I haven’t played in years but I loved it. I figure I’ll stick to it longer than going to a class I don’t enjoy.

  64. I am going to try and be more active each day and drink more water.

  65. I’ve resolved to make sure our family meals are much healthier and we plan activities to keep us moving!

  66. I love that your exercise of choice is walking. It’s something everyone can do, with anyone. I am not big on resolutions.. but this year I’ve made it a point to eat better. cook more. and always try to eat breakfast even if its just yogurt with fruit and granola as I rush out the door.

I’m also working on getting FIT, I run and do yoga, but often find myself making excuses to not run, I think I may incorporate walking, since its a bit harder to say, “i’m too tired to WALK” haha.

    Thank you for the opportunity!

  67. I plan to stress less and pray more.

  68. i really want to get healthier i got a kinect for christmas and the active 2 and i love it.

  70. I’m hoping to lose 20 more pounds by excercising regularly and making better food decisions.

  71. Better mental health for me this year…I will take the time to take a vacation…

    trippyjanet at hotmail dot com

  72. My focus this year is on organic living. I want to edit my budget and spending habits to allow me to have more money so that I can afford to do all my shopping at the local Whole Foods and make my meals as organic and natural as possible. This will enable me to eat healthy good foods that I enjoy while losing weight without even really trying just by cutting out all the eating out!

  73. I need to start walking again. I used to love it, but then I started getting lazy. Here’s to 2011!

  74. My big thing this year is social health. I have a tendancy to be a real hermit and not get with my awesome friends nearly enough to the point of it being unhealthy. This year, and I have done well so far, I am promising to get with friends more often.

I’m going to continue eating healthy. I started this last year and have lost 77lbs so far and I plan to lose much more this year!

  76. 0000000000000000000I will try and eat much ealthier this year, plus do more excercising, while I have my calorie counting

I plan on making 2011 better and healthier, by managing my pain level, which will indeed let me excercise a bit more each day, and get back to my walking routine. I love to walk, but had to take a break due to recent medical issues, which has indeed made me pack on some pounds. I plan to start walking each day with a buddy, and start eating healthier, which will be better for me in the long run.

  77. My resolution this year is to drink more water.

  78. Less beer, more eating at home, more fun exercise. I’m jazzed, actually: this is gonna be fun.

  79. less meat, more veggies/fruit

and less time on my butt xD

  80. I’ll admit I’m not a great cook, but my kids have decided that we must eat healthier and have started scouring recipe websites and pulling recipe’s they think they will like and we all shop for the items on the list they create. We feel like adventurer’s every day!

  81. I was gifted a very nice treadmill but had an injury before I could get started using it. It has become a repository for excess junk. I want to clear the junk away and start using the treadmill so I can get healthier.

  82. gotta stay away from the sweets!

  83. I plan to exercise more frequently

  84. I’ve been making it a point to make sure I take all my required meds and vitamins. I’m usually ho hum about doing it, but I’m putting my foot down and making sure I do it every day.

  85. I am going to try avoiding flour-foods like pasta and bread, and walk at least 3 days a week. I am over 60 now and my health is not as forgiving as when I was younger. Staying alive will be my main motivation!

  86. My focus this year is eating more fruits and veggies, and less processed foods.

  87. My focus this year is cutting out sugar and sweets, and eating more natural unprocessed foods.

  88. I plan to go to the Dr’s and stop making excuses to not get my routine care done – like mamograms, ect!

  89. I need to concentrate on flexibility and strengthening right now, so I’ve started practicing yoga. I’m still pretty much of a klutz, but it’s coming along.

I don’t make resolutions per se. That said, I am trying to lose all the weight I gained while greiving for my son, who diead unexpectely last year at age 28.
I am now trying to just eat healthier, and exercise more. I have also signed up for a 5k obsticle course race later this spring, so I have a particular goal.

  91. My plans to make 2011 a healthier new year is drinking more water and less soda.

  93. Exercising is something that my husband and I enjoy… walking in the mornings is one way we keep on top of this.

  94. I plan to continue working on losing the last 5 lb of baby weight from baby #2 by eating breakfast (which I’m infamous for skipping) and trying to switch up my workout routines from week to week.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  95. Continuing to eat healthier and focusing on consistent exercise. I’ll do really well for a couple months then take a month off! That needs to stop!! :)

  96. I resolved to eat better and exercise more loooonnng ago, and of course, have had uneven results. Been good about getting in three workouts a week but plan to bump that up to 5. And eating better goes hand in hand with saving money…the more I cook and plan meals at home and the less I buy food out, the healthier I feel and it also makes my bank account healthier too,

    wolverina401 at gmail dot com

  97. I’m trying to drink more water and become more physically active!

  98. 2011 I’m going to quit smoking!!!

  99. I will eat healthier, exercise more and train for my first 5k in October to raise awareness and money for a cure for colon cancer in my father’s honor.

  101. I am going to take 20 minutes of me time everyday to check in with myself about where I am going and what I can accomplish in the coming day

  102. I stay in shape by chasing around eight preschoolers for eleven hours each day. I plan on walking the dog more too.

I am actually trying to take more time for myself instead of putting everyone else before me. It’s not selfish, it is necessary for good health. I think 2011 is going to be a great year if I start it off with this great attitide!

  105. I am eating healthy, lots of fruits veggies, low fat dairy and lean meats and proteins. I also have been exercising with my husband…jump rope, medicine balls, weights, treadmill, bike-at least 30 minutes per day. Down 4 pounds already!

  106. Just healing from 2 broken ribs in November, no workouts for nearly 2 months, so I’ve started walking 1 hour on the treadmill a day, if I can until I can do more strenuous exercise. Then to hit it hard to try to get in some skiing in the spring – I don’t want to go skiing this out-of-shape. I usually use DVDs to exercise at home.

    I also tweeted:

    http://twitter.com/#!/Sheskis

  107. This year, I want to focus on adding some healthier items to my diet, like yogurt and raw honey.

    dchrisg3 @ gmail . com

  108. I plan to be more disciplined about my meditation. It helps reduce my stress which in turn makes me happier and healthier. I also plan to laugh more and not take myself so seriously.

  109. More hiking and x-c skiing to build up aerobic capacity.

  110. Staying hydrated, take my vitamins regularly.

  112. I’m bent on getting more veggies into mine and my husband’s diets. He LOVES fried food, but my tummy can’t handle it anymore. I’m really loving Jessica Seinfeld’s book “Deceptively Delicious” and “Double Delicious” for using veggie purees to sneak some healthy into dinner.

  113. i plan on eating more hormone free meats, organically grown veggies and losing 15lbs by using my elliptical 4x a week rather than 2x week

  114. I’d like to lose 10 lbs this year. Well, I’d like to lose more, but that seems like a reasonable goal.

I plan on using the new Dr.Oz 2011 health and wellness program to get started. I am going to walk more, create a food journal and talk with a nutritionist.

  116. I plan to work-out 5 days a week and drink more water.

  117. I had a knee replacement last year and my hope is to build my stamina back up. I’ve started walking a bit every day… and trying not to push it. Small steps… literally!!!!

my goal isnt so much about weight loss, its more about toning and tightening

  121. I plan to quit drinking soda in 2011

  122. My son and I have decided to plan meals, cut out breads and pastas this year. We may eat some pasta but only the whole wheat. I plan to start working on the BowFlex soon. My son has started his own exercise program. I travel a lot for work so I will be taking extra clothes to go to the gym…possibly.

  123. My husband and I travel for work. We live in hotels all the time. Right now snow is all over and it’s blistering cold outside. So, I bought some ankle weights and 3lb dumbells and I walk the halls and walk up/down the stairs between floors. I do this twice a day for 30 minute intervals.
Keeps me busy and fit so I don’t get cabin fever during these harsh winter months. I’m loving the results so far!

  124. I just had my son at the end of October so I plan on signing up for the gym this weekend and trying to go at least 3 times a week so I can lose this baby weight!!

  125. between recuperating from an illness and the snow making roads unsafe, it’s been difficult to get back into my gym routine. My solution? I go to the gym 2-3x’s a week and then park on the far side of the parking lot so I get some walking in before I go to water aerobics.

  126. i started back exercising in addition to an on-gong food plan. i have arthritis and have to avoid stressing my knees. i’m afraid if i started walking, i’d have to call home to get a ride back! i also joined “the biggest blogging loser” contest, ‘cuz money motivates me.

  128. I am very inactive so my goal is to get in 30 minutes of exercise each day!!!

  129. I’m setting monthly goals that include exercise and reading books to improve myself.
    fourkidsrgreat(at)gmail.com

  130. Being able to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes without pain in my foot or feet would be a great accomplishment for me! Thanks
    kmassmanATgmailDOTcom

  131. I am going to start working out again. I’ve decided I can’t use the baby as an excuse anymore – as he is already 15 months old…

  132. my focus is definitely better eating habits.. mainly eating more fruits and veggies and cutting back on sugary junk foods

  133. I am planning a weeks worth of menus. It has saved allot of time and help keep the meals more healthy.
Also we are working on controlling portion control, no second helpings and only friut for a snack in the evening. We decided that we want this to be a life style not just a diet.

More physical exercise (I’m already walking more and want to really keep that up, I’ve also got some new DVD’s for a variety of exercise so I won’t get bored, and I have more time this year (= fewer ‘I’m too busy’ excuses). And, definitely healthier eating habits – I’ve got lots of my own garden goodies preserved from last summer, and with a tight budget, great motivation to eat my own healthy goodies! I’m definitely seeking a little less stress and a lot more mental wellness – hoping the exercise and good eating will help with that!

  224. I am trying to eat healthier foods more fruits and veggies

  225. My focus is on getting in more physical activity every day. My sister and I decided to start training for a 10(k) in July, so $100 to put toward running shoes would be awesome!

  226. This would be such a blessing to win – I’m on unpaid maternity leave and could SO use the extra help!! My goal is to exercise more and eat and feed my family more healthy options – for myself, but also for my children!! I want to be around with them for a LONG time!! :)

  227. My plans are to eat healthier, I just grab a snack when I am hungry instead of going and making a meal. I want to get back into exercising too.
    stanleybilly(at)bellsouth(dot)net

  228. I recently joined a fitness program sponsored by my employer. It’s really helpful to motivate me in keeping up my exercise regimen, which will make 2011 a healthier year for me.

  229. I’m training for a half marathon in the summer and joining Team in Training for a full marathon in the fall.

  230. I did a fantastic job changing to healthy eating and consistent exercise last year. This year, I’m going to up the intensity and length of my workouts so I can reach my weight loss goal by the summer! Just 2 more sizes to go!

  231. I Love to cook and “Love” this new found website…….so many different, delish recipes. Got some new ideas for an upcoming baby shower, bridal shower and BUNCO.
I bought Dance2 for my Wii and my husband(both in or 50′s) are dancing our hearts out. We are dancing til we not only glisten…..we are glowing. We both want to shed some weight(my love for cooking and his love for eating make this tough). We are dancing an hour an evening and trying to to eat light. Happy, Healthy New Year

  232. I AM NOT KIDDING! I plan to really get off my butt and move it!
I’m tired of not fitting into my jeans!
I want my jelly belly gone! So, I’m getting busy!

  233. I lost weight last year so this year my focus is to keep it off my exercising more and just toning my body.

    I’m focusing on cardio health.

  245. I am changing up my fitness routine, focusing more on circuit training.

  246. My area of improvement would start with mental health which would REALLY help me improve my physical self. Have been physically limited for so many years and the past two have allowed the fear and disappointment and lack of control to drive my life. THIS year, I plan to remove the word CAN’T from my vocabulary, stop comparing me to the person I used to be and be happy with and LOVE the person I am. Too much I stop myself from social activity, physical exercise, learning experiences because of my limits. This year I plan to stop this way of thinking that if I “CANT do it all out, I dont do it at ALL. No more excuses…being is not enough…I have to start DOING!

  247. I’m gonna start eating better and EXERCISE for God’s sakes!!!

I am going to try Zumba this year and eat healthier.

  249. I hope to go to the gym at least 3 times a week, eat lots of healthy food and protein, and gain weight so I can finally resolve my low blood pressure, head rushes, and upper body weakness!

  250. I plan to work out more and drink more water!

  251. I lost too much weight while on chemo and radiation, so I need to pack on some pounds this year while still eating healthy. I started a simple food journal to keep track of what I eat

  252. For medical reasons I’m limited on what exercise I can do, but I’ve let that stop me from pretty much ANY exercise! I need something mild but consistent. I live on the beach, so I’m starting with walking 3 times a week. Not setting a time or distance goal yet – I’ll just walk as far/long as feels good, and hopefully build up some strength and stamina, then mid year I can re-evaluate my goals :)
In case of rain I have a walky exercise device (don’t know what it’s called as I got it used) that I’ll do 15 minutes on.

  253. I am working at eating healthier. Adding more fruit/veggies and fiber to be specific.

  262. continue keeping a bottle of water with me constantly. continue yoga and pilates classes, cardio makes you hungry afterwards. less worrying about what i’ve eaten, because when you allow yourself to have anything you want, you want it less. put healthier foods into my body in order to be a better me. :)

  268. mental health and peace

  269. i just need to get back into working out. period.

  270. Definitely going to work out more. Last year was a dud when it came to hitting the gym. :-P

  271. My husband and I need to forget the drive thru. I am pledging to cook every.single.night. 5 days in and so far, so good, hehe!

  272. I plan to make 2011 a healthier year by cutting back on sugar as much as possible. It’s ruining my life!

  273. This summer, after watching an interview with Michael Pollan (author of “Food Rules”) I decided to follow his advice and eat healthier foods. It has been a challenge for me and I’m still not there yet, but it has definitely impacted decisions I make at the grocery store. This year, my husband and I got P90X for Christmas and are starting today! I have a titanium rod in my leg and am somewhat limited in my exercise options, so I’m looking forward to this (although tomorrow I may be singing a different tune!) because while it is intense, it is supposed to be relatively low-impact so I think I can swing it! Like everyone else I know, I want to make healthier habits – and losing a few pounds along the way will only be an added perk! I’m making the chicken almond pasta bake from this website tonight for dinner, and then it’s off to the races! (p.s. Thanks for the tip on the Reebok shoes! I work as a behavior specialist in a middle school and am on my feet all day, so those might come in handy as I’m working toward being healthier/more fit!)

  274. Well, my brand new treadmill was just shipped to me last week. So I am excited to start using it. Hopefully I will be able to burn some calories, lose a few pounds, and tone up my body in 2011.

My health goal this year is to try being mindful when eating. Too often I sit at the computer and with the mouse in one hand, the other is holding a cookie or digging into a bag of chips. If I was aware and mindful of my eating then I’d probably enjoy the food better and eat less which would help boost my overall health.

  276. I am going to try new things for excercise – different classes, videos, etc… to keep things interesting and keep myself motivated!

Since I work out as much as I can, now it’s time to eat healthier – cutting back on sodium and lower fat intake, but without affecting flavor…is that possible? Will give it a try.

  278. To stay away from refined sugar. I know it is not practical to say I will never eat a sweet again, but if I can refrain as much as possible that would be great!

  279. Less stress would always be nice!

  280. I plan to do the NYC marathon… stick to my eating healthy plan and moderation for the cravings!! Good luck to you… and I can’t wait to check out the shoes…

    Bobbi

  281. I eat fairly healthy, so this year I need to be more active. I bought a Groupon for hot yoga and got a gift certificate for TaeKwonDo. So, I’m set for a few months at least! Hopefully that will be some motivation to get moving.

  282. I will be working with my physical therapist to try to increase my daily exercises.
    chainmail (at) iwon (dot) com

  283. I am trying to eat a breakfast bar for breakfast, a slim fast for lunch & then a healthy meal for dinner. I also plan to walk during my lunch break, whenever the weather gets warmer.

  284. I want to eat balanced portions come mealtime in 2011. Down with overeating!

  285. I’m going to take a more holistic approach to health this year: improve the mind and spirit. My goal is more consistent quiet times, and times of rest. Less TV, more reading.

  286. I’m on the “wedding workout plan” for 2011. More excerise is my goal!

  287. I plan on extending my daily workout from thirty minutes to an hour!

  288. My focus this year is-eating less.
    bepoia(at)hotmail(dot)com

  289. I definitely want to work to cut my self some slack this year. Stress has taken over my life for to long…It’s time to take it back!!

  290. I definately need to stress less and learn to rest and relax a little more.

  291. i hope to be more active, either walking or jogging

  292. I am going to try to exercise more and eat better. Also to cut back on the amount of soda that I drink.

  293. Hi Ali,
Thanks for another fun give-away! My resolution is to use my cookbooks (and of course bookmarked recipes from Gimme Some Oven) at least once per week to curb my aimless wanders through the grocery store and ensure I plan healthier meals.

  296. I plan to do more yoga and jogging.
    tcarolinep at gmail dot com

  297. Drink more water and run more regularly. :)

  298. This might sound odd, but drinking more herbal tea is my health goal. There are a lot of health benefits & it’s easier on the stomach than coffee. The loose teas from Teavana are my favorites!

  299. i have already started a bit before 2011 with eating more fruits/vegetables and taking my vitamins- feel so much healthier already! I’d like to do more Yoga :)

  300. I am training for a 10 mile race in 2011 and working to try to add in yoga to my routines too.

  301. I started running in July 2010. I ran my first 5K in November. After 28 years of thinking I hated to run, I discovered that it was rewarding, way easier than I thought, and even… fun!

In 2011, I’m stepping up my running game. I’m registered for a 5 Mile race in Feb. and a 10 mile race in May; I’m aiming for the Philadelphia Half Marathon next fall.

And I also hope to add strength training to my running – I’ll need to build up muscle to make it during those long runs this year!

  302. I plan to make more of my own desserts and stop eating those highly processed ones!

  303. to take a page from your book, so to speak, my big push for 2011 is healthier eating. My daughter is already watching my salt intake (big weakness of mine) to the point I feel like a drug addict sneaking drugs. More fresh fruits and veggies.

  304. This year I want to focus on toning my body. I’m going to start doing yoga and pilates and try to eat healthier foods.

  305. I’m going to eat more vegetables!

  306. I plan on making 2011 a healthier year by staying away from fast food and exercising more often

  307. I have lost 100lbs and kept it off through diet and exercise for the past 3 years! I plan to finish start running this year and complete the P90X program!

  308. My goal for the year 2011 is to eat healthier and lighter versions of all the foods I love. I want to be more concious of what is going into my mouth and not just eating because of emotions. Also, I want to go to the gym 4 times a week! Wish me luck!

  309. My focus area this year will be TONING! I recently had a baby (2 months ago), I lost most of my baby weight, but I am SO flabby now! I need to get my abs, butt, legs & arms back in shape, not only for me, but for my husband too. I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer, so that I can go for walks/jogs with the baby. Here’s to a TONED UP 2011!

  310. less dessert, more veggies. that’s where i need to begin!

  311. Ali, I am going to start training for another tri with some friends – specifically increasing my miles run each week – and eat more fresh veggies!

  312. We got the new Wii Active 2 for Christmas and although it is kicking my butt, I am loving the work outs. I used to log in about 3 miles of walks a day (I am not fairing as well in the colder temps), so I totally agree that they are one of the best ways to get active. I need strength training too, let me know if you have any tips. Strength training has always been my work out nemesis. :)

  313. I walk my dogs a few times a week for exercise. I’m also giving up pop and limiting my sugar intake.

  314. I plan to spend less and save more to buy a house!

To make my year healthier, I’m taking pole dancing classes, yoga, and cutting soda completely out of my diet. My goal is to drop two dress sizes by July.

  316. I am tracking what I eat and hoping to add more fruits and vegetables into my diet. As well as starting a walking schedule.

  317. My Health Resolution won’t kick in until mid-March (I’m having a baby in early February), but my plans include trying out a fitness boot camp!

  318. Organization of my time! Oh hoe easy things could be!

  319. After moving from Berlin, where I walked all of the time, I realize that now that I am back in the States I need to try to move more.

  320. I have alot of plans to get my act together for 2011! lol

I have lost 70 lbs and have kept almost all of it off:) BUT I still wanna lose about 20 more!! I do drink alot of water and walk ALOT but I do slip up and eat sweets too much(my weakness)

I want to workout more and also get the people that are stressing me out of my life!

thank you for the chance to win!!

  321. Sooo….. To make this year a healthier year? I think mostly to walk more place. I live in the cutest little historic downtown district that has EVERYTHING within walking distance and yet I still find myself driving. So my goal at this point is to walk everywhere unless it’s raining.

  322. My husband and I are committed to finishing P90X! We’ve started and stopped several times but we are going to give it a good go. Day 7 and going strong!

  323. Resolutions:

To have a little more patience, and to stop stressing about things I cannot control.

To figure out priorities and set goals and then take the steps to accomplish those goals . . . working on setting up that habit right now :)

Oh – I ran my first 10K last year, and I want to do it again and improve my time :)

Lots of resolutions for this year!

  324. I already am a exercise addict :P but I really want to work on controlling my portions, drinking more water and eating more fruits!!!

  325. I plan to make 2011 healthier by losing 30 lbs and staying active at my gym. I started this goal last year and I hope to meet it this year! I lost 14 lbs last year.

  326. lose weight and eat healthy!

  327. My focus for the new year is to not only work out at least three to four times a week but to eat healthier. I’m guilty of loving junk food a little too much and am ready to turn over a new healthier leaf! :)

  328. I’m having surgery in a couple of days, and my “resolution” is to follow the directions of my physical therapist. Hopefully, it won’t be long before I can walk through the neighborhood. Reebok and I go WAY back on this; it’s my favorite way to exercise, because it doesn’t feel like work. Post-surgery, I’ll have to watch what I eat more than ever: All that inactivity means I won’t be able to eat as much as usual.

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

  329. My plans for a healthier 2011 center around less. A little less sugar. A little less wine. A little less sitting on my backside blogging. I think it’ll work. But killer shoes would help!

  330. I’m going to work out 3x/wk, run a 1/2 marathon, meal plan every month, eat no meat in restaurants, avoid HFCS, and go meatless 1 day per week at home!

  331. I’m going to try and cut out excess carbs!

  332. I am a runner but also weak on the strength training front. I plan to incorporate daily exercises but most importantly, I have committed to walk or run 2 miles every day for 365 days! So far I have done it 4 days in a row.

  333. I have become really committed to my health and fitness in the last couple of months. One of my resolutions for this year is to cut out as much processed food as possible. But this giveaway would certainly help me with my bootcamp in the mornings!

  334. I want to cultivate an attitude of gratitude for the new year. 2010 was a difficult year and I know 2011 can be better if I focus on what is right instead of what is wrong.

    jacksoncrisman@yahoo.com

  336. I plan to play more, I mean exercise more in the new year.

  337. My theme for 2011 is Try It! I plan on trying new things in the gym, kitchen and city I live in. First up for the gym is zumba – I hear people love it, but I’m a little nervous!

  338. I want to try walking more, eating healthy and drinking lots of water.

  339. My goals for the 2011 are to CONTINUE to challenge myself in my workouts and find fun new ways to get fit! I try to work out in the early morning so that I cannot come up with excuses at the end of the day in order to skip exericse! I cut out fast food/quick restaurants (anything and EVERYTHING but Subway) last July and I hope to keep that up this year as I have never felt better :)

  340. Getting outside with my friends and family is going to lead to a lot more exercise without even realizing it!

  341. I am going to try and eat more whole, unprocessed foods as well as try new fitness activities such as Core Fusion and yoga at a real studio.

  342. One of my friends and I just started meeting with a personal trainer once a week. Had our first workout last nigh and I am SORE today!

  343. I plan to start jogging! I don’t do nearly enough physical work and my body is starting to get too tired too easily.

  344. I keep telling myself I’m going to start running again. Here’s hoping I actually do!

  345. I’m jumping on the fitness bandwagon, and eating healthier and exercising more. My goal is to lose 50 pounds because my husband promised me a new wardrobe if I do it!!!

  346. We are tracking our food at work and trying to provide healthier options for our weekly potluck.

  347. my goal is to make it to the gym one more day a week. right now I’d say I’m heading there about 1.5 to 2 times. Or maybe I’d better say 3 times every 2 weeks. I’d like to consistently make it 5 times every 2 weeks.

  348. We are focusing on healthy cooking and eating! I feel so much better when I am more careful about what I eat. I also want to run more this year!

  349. I just joined weight watchers and my husband and I are look at body devices like the Body Bugg to help us be more informed about how many calories we burn.

  350. We’re going to work on eating healthier, drinking less pop and more water, and trying to get out and do some form of exercise at least once a day.

  351. I plan to lose weight this year as always but this year I will actually do it I need to look good in my wedding dress !!!

  352. To be healthier overall and run that elusive 5k

  353. Great giveaway, Ali!
I’ve resolved to getting out to walk with my dog every day. It’ll be great for both of us. : )

  354. My resolution this year is to just be happy.

I plan to walk more and drink more water! tracietrump@yahoo.com

  356. Plan to be more active…put my gym membership to good use!

  357. Start C25K.

  358. This year I plan to focus on moving more. Since becoming a grad student, I spend the majority of my time sitting- reading, writing, in class. I’d like to find a way to integrate movement into my work time, maybe more walking while reading, or finding a stationary bike so that I can read while pedaling.

My new year’s resolution is to stop eating in the car as much as possible! That in and of itself will be hugely stress reducing. Wish me luck!

  360. My goal is to work out at least 3 times a week.

  361. I’m trying to eat out less, and cook meals at home more often. (I love to cook, but sometimes with my busy schedule, I find myself ordering takeout at the end of the day because it feels easier.) To help accomplish this, I’m trying to plan all my meals in advance. I know that when I cook my own food, I generally eat healthier than when I eat out!

  362. I tweeted!

  363. To be healthier in 2011, I plan to drink more water (less diet soda!) and spice up my workout routine a little more. I find that I’m getting in a rut. But I could use this visa card to try a few classes at the local gym! :-)

  364. I am going to try and get better at cardio in the winter. I live in MN and outside exercise can be a chore in the winter. I need to either suck it up and walk outside or learn to deal with the extremely boring machines at the gym!

  365. I’m going to try to be healthier by cutting back on sweets and by eating more fruits and veggies.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  366. My plans are to eat healthier, smaller portions and to move more in 2011.

  367. I’m always pretty careful about what I eat and I exercise daily, so I plan to keep up my healthy lifestyle for 2011!

  368. I am going to try to do some exercise everyday even if it is just 10 pushups, it’s better than none!

  369. I am focusing on eating clean food as much as posssible – not a diet, but a lifestyle change. Sticking to the workout plan and cutting out diet sodas are high on the list as well!

  370. I’m trying to eliminate late night snacking!

  371. I plan on walking my new dog for at least 30 minutes a day. No 5 minute walks for me!!

  372. I am not going to buy candy. If I don’t buy it, it can’t be eaten. Also, I’m going to set a daily calorie goal and stick to it.

  373. My health goals for the new year: more running fast (sub-5 mile), less snacking late (nothing huge past midnight), and a concentrated effort to make time for friends and family no matter how busy I get!

  374. tweet-http://twitter.com/#!/mami2jcn/status/22340201951002624

  375. I’d like to Zumba at least 3 times a week.

  376. First of all, I loved your top 10 of 2010 post! I will be trying the homemade apple cider very soon!

I very much want 2011 to be a healthier year! My rheumatoid arthritis has put me on disability and has made any type of high impact or strength training workout regimen out of the question. But that won’t stop me!
Since I can’t throw myself into working out, I’ve joined Weight Watchers this year. I also bought a pedometer and am starting on a low-impact walking routine–at least 3500 steps per walk for the first week and then, if my joints permit, I will increase it from there!
Also, I will continue going to my water aerobics classes twice a week!

Best of luck on your strength training!

  377. I tweeted about this, but apparently I am a huge idiot and cannot figure out how to get the url of only one status. Here is my feed anyways – http://twitter.com/blbst36

I will be continuing my commitment to daily exercise, at least 20 mins and reducing the sugar and alcohol I consume Oh! And doing something fun with my friends once a week. AND, I want to try growing some herbs and lettuces, too!

  379. I will be starting a new way of eating…tomorrow :)

Seriously, though, I have gained some weight over the holidays and can’t wait to see it go away and take some more of its friends with it. I will be starting Weight Watchers tomorrow to help me get it under control NOW!!

  380. I plan to drink more water and walk more. Both my pup and I could use a lot more exercise!

  381. I’m going to get serious about finding new, healthy brown bag lunches. I save so much money by packing my own lunch, but as things get busy I usually just fall back on sandwiches with some kind of deli meat and cheese, which is easy but even stops being yummy after a while.

  382. My goals for 2011 are to work out for a minimum of 3 times a week. I already eat relatively healthy, but I’m a bit on the lazy side. I’ve got to keep my heart healthy and get up and move!

  383. My goal for 2011 is to focus on cleaning up my diet. Not restricting myself from the food I enjoy, just making sure that food is as free from “fake” stuff as possible. Trying to eat whole foods and eliminating the refined and processed stuff. Sure, I’ll allow myself a few exceptions but I’m hoping to fuel my body with food that it actually knows how to process!

  384. I plan to cut caffeine from my diet and drink more water.

  385. I will be kicking my husband and myself out of bed in the morning to go for a 1 – 2 mile walk. Then when the weather heats up a bit, we’ll progress to a run :) In theory, anyway.

  386. I’m using the website Health Month to stick to my resolutions this year – my biggest ones are to eat more fruits, veggies, and whole grains, and to exercise at least 5 days a week.

  387. I am trying to eat less sugar and sodium. Working out has never been issue for me. I love it.

  388. I have a mind set for this year to improve my mind, body soul:
mind- not be so hard on myself on the little things!
body- continue to keep my fitness up while trying to new activities
soul- channel stress in a healthy mannor

  389. I am really focusing on not indulging in sweet treats (besides a bit of daily dark chocolate) for dessert during on week days. That way, on the weekends it is a real treat to have some dessert. I need less sugar and fat in my life. :-) Thanks for the giveaway!

  390. I am going to try and eat more whole foods this year!

  391. I have many different fitness goals but in addition to those goals, my husband and I are cutting out red meat, and incoporating more local fruits and veggies.
