I have owned this exact kitchen scale for the past few years, and absolutely love it! I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first about whether or not I would actually use a kitchen scale, and if it would take up valuable space in the kitchen. But once I saw how small and lightweight it was, and how super-simple it is to use, I was hooked. Mine has been a fantastic help in cooking and baking…especiallybaking bread!! We need this scale! We have been experimenting with bread recipes and many of them measure the ingredients by weight, not volume.

This would be soo useful! I am diabetic and we should be weighing our food for greater accuracy in counting carbohydrates. Since our kitchen scale broke, we have been using a postal scale but it is not quite the same thing.

A kitchen scale would be great because we currently use a mish-mash of recipes from cookbooks and the internet and usually have to “guestimate” the amount of ingredient to use if it is listed in ounces.
I’ve had a digital scale and love it. Sadly, it has been used and loved so much, I have tape holding bits of it together. We buy in bulk and use the scale to repackage items into more usable sizes and for freezing.

For baking! There are so many recipes that call for certain weights, I’m too afraid to try them without a scale. My baking is pretty disasterous if I don’t follow the recipe exactly. o_o
Digital scales are awesome for making bread! Such an easy and accurate way to “measure” the ingredients. Would love the scale–mine has been fixed several times by the hubby and is barely hanging together with electrical tape and solder. Enjoy your blog!

I’d love this scale because I lived briefly in England for a time, and I crave the food constantly. I try to recreate dishes I ate over there using British recipes, but it doesn’t always work, mainly because of the mess involving converting grams to ounces and weights to volumes. Oh my goodness! I have been looking for the right digital kitchen scale for awhile – but like you was skeptical. That is, until I kept seeing more and more adapted to healthy baking recipes. It is amazing how the slightest change in one ingredient can change the taste and texture. Since I don’t own one I def would use it so I can tackle those recipes! :)

i would love a way to make sure i’m measuring accurately! i’m gluten free and standard cup sizes aren’t all the same.
I use an electronic scale for baking as well, unfortunately mine is on its last legs and this would make an excellent replacement.

I do a lot of baking and the recipes tend to call for weights of ingredients so i have to guesstimate the equivalent in volume, a scale would make it much easier!
My scale is barely limping along right now. I swear by cooking with a scale. Helps all of my goodies turn out perfect each time.
I tend to eat more than one serving per sitting, so having a digital scale would keep me from accidentally eating the whole bag of chips ;).

I would love to have a digital cooking scale for multiple reasons— I lived in the UK for an extended period of time and it is hard to use the cookbooks I collected accurately because I don’t have a scale– also, I am just venturing into making my own baby food so a scale could help me portion out the food accurately.

I watch Alton Brown’s shows on food network (he’s so informative!) and he gives a lot of measurements using weights, which I have no way to measure. But I’d like to have a way! And this would help!

Kitchen scales are nice for those pesky recipes that only give weights instead of measurements. But I have also heard that your baking results are more consistent if you use one.

I would love to have one of these! I’m trying to really get into cooking (I usually only do baking and such) and it’s so hard with different meats and stuff to know how much to use when a recipe calls for a certain amount.

I’ve seen other people mentioning using it to inform food choices. My mom’s a nutritionist, and she’s told me a number of times that the weight of a food option doesn’t really tell you much about its nutrition, but it can definitely help in figuring out portion sizes! While I probably wouldn’t whip it out in the dining hall, having a food scale would certainly be helpful in portion control.
The number of batches of feet-less macarons I’ve made as a result of inaccurate measurements definitely completely justifies the procurement of a kitchen scale, in my opinion. :P
