Easy Apple Tart

I tend to think that a meal’s not a meal without dessert. :)

But often, after already spending time in the kitchen making dinner, the last thing I want to do is spend a ton more time on another course. So I’m always stoked to find a new desserts that can be pulled together in a snap!

This delicious apple tart recipe happens to be just that. :)  Created by The Pioneer Woman herself, these little tarts are simple, full of classic apple (and I added cinnamon!) flavor, and rounded out by the magic that is puff pastry. Totally love them! And best of all, of course, they are super-speedy to pull together.

Feel free to serve these with ice cream, whipped cream, powdered sugar….or all three. :)

Description

You’ll love this Easy Apple Tart Recipe! So fresh, simple & ready to enjoy in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puffed pastry, cut lengthwise into half or thirds (to make long, skinny rectangles)
  • 3 apples, cored, halved vertically, and sliced super-thin (but not peeled)
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 415 degrees.
  2. Place puffed pastry rectangles onto a baking pan that’s been sprayed with nonstick spray. (To get added pastry height/thickness, you can also layer two rectangles on top of each other.) Add brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and salt to apples. (Note: lemon juice helps to prevent cut apple wedges from browning.) Stir to combine. Allow to sit for a few minutes.
  3. Arrange apple slices on the pastry rectangles in a straight line, overlapping as you go. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  4. Remove from pan immediately and place on a serving platter. Serve plain, with caramel topping, whipped cream, ice cream, or a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

Ali’s Tip:

Other fun suggestions for this might include:

  • subbing in other favorite fruits (such as peaches, pears, plums, etc.)
  • spreading a layer of cream cheese underneath the apples
  • drizzle with chocolate!

  1. I’ve made these too – they’re great! I like your cream cheese (or even mascarpone!) idea too.

  2. I’ve made these too, but with homemade puff pastry. The next time I make them, I’m going to remove the apple skin and added a cinnamon-powdered sugar glaze to it. It was really good as is, though. Beautiful photos!!

    • Hi Memoria,

Wow – I so admire you with the homemade puff pastry! I have yet to attempt that. :) But I’m sure the cinnamon-powdered glaze would be amazing with this too! If you give it a go, feel free to post the glaze recipe you use on here — I (and I’m sure others!) would love to give it a try!

  5. My Goodness! I think I’ve made a New Friend! I have some spples and was searching for a ‘good~n~easy recipe’ because, like many of you, I love EASY :)

One Question though. You didn’t specify the apples and I’m making my puff pastry because I just love making my kitchen messy! haha!

Thank you for the recipe and Do go look at my website. I’d love some traffic and feedback :) You have been added to My ‘Special Websites’.

  6. Love this recipe because it is so easy and versatile ! Because it’s fall, I added a dash of cloves with the cinnamon. For apples, I used a combination of Granny Smith, Cortland, and Gala apples. I took a bit of the leftover apple juices and about 1/2 tbsp of vanilla and mixed them into the cream cheese which I layered on the puff pastry before adding the apples. While the tarts were cooking, I used the rest of the apple juices to create an apple rum sauce.

  7. I’m making these right now! I can’t wait to taste them! On the last one i’m going to spread cream cheese beneath the apples.

  8. Oh these are so easy and pretty! I second your recommendation to double the puff pastry for a deeper nest.
