Currently | gimmesomelife.com

Whew! I just finished up a mega big food styling project at work that has consumed my days and evening these past two weeks, and am finally getting to sit down and catch up on a bit of life. So thought I would post another “currently” on here about, well, life!

I had initially thought that all-text would be nice for these posts. But I got on a little roll with adding some images this time.

So what do you think — yay or nay? Pictures or no pictures?

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)

Dogs in a blizzard | gimmesomelife.com

Loving this video that my neighbor Liz took of our pups running around our loft yesterday during the Blizzard of Oz. Henry has found a new BFF!

Alo Water | gimmesomelife.com

Sipping aloe vera water. I’m still trying to decide whether I like the pulp or whether it freaks me out. But the drink is so refreshing, and I love the idea of a little extra aloe in my life during the cold and dry winter. The pomegranate flavor is my favorite!

Prima Home Brewing Kit | gimmesomelife.com

Preparing to teach myself to learn the art of pour-over coffee this weekend. I just got this amazing home brewing starter kit in the mail from Prima and I can’t wait to finally try it! Post coming soon. :)

Google Plus | gimmesomelife.com

Learning the ins and outs of Google+.  This already-overwhelmed-with-social-media girl was resistant to diving in, but it looks like the third largest search engine is the way of the future. If you’re on there, let’s connect! Come find me at Ali Ebright (Gimme Some Oven).

Food Styling | gimmesomelife.com

Reading this enormous textbook on food styling. My freelancing job in the photo studio at Hallmark has been graciously giving me more opportunities to try some professional food styling, and I am trying to study and practice up to try this side of the industry. This book is literally 400 pages jam-packed with SO many things to learn, but it has been fascinating. I have so much more respect for professional food stylists now!

iRealb | gimmesomelife.com

Downloading all sorts of chord charts on this new iRealb app to share with my music students. For all of you musicians out there, it may be the best $7.99 you spend. I’m still new to it, but this app gives you access to an enormous database of charts (that seem pretty accurate so far) that you can edit, print, share and collect. And you can practice with a semi-realistic sounding accompaniment. AND you can even create your own chords charts on there. Brilliant! Since most of my 10-yr-old students have nicer phones and iPads than I do, I’m making this a must-buy for everyone this semester.

The Instructions | gimmesomelife.com

Starting our new ONE THOUSAND PAGE book club pick of the month (well, we’re spacing it over two months) — The Instructions. It comes highly recommended by a handful of our friends. But as my friend Cass said — what did we get ourselves into?! :)

World Market Wood Bark Pedestal Stand | gimmesomelife.com

Photo from World Market

Crushing on this wood bark pedestal standfrom World Market.

Craving some homemade pasta after watching my friend Julie’s video and blog post on how to make homemade pasta. I so want to try this KitchenAid pasta attachment — this looks so fun! And her video is awesome!

JCrew Origami Sheath Dress | gimmesomelife.com

Planning ahead for a wave of SIX friends’ weddings this spring, and I fell in love with this beautiful origami sheath dress from JCrew. Totally classic, totally lovely, totally teal. Now if it would just go on sale. :)

Lumix | gimmesomelife.com

Photo from Amazon.com

Geeking out about the teeny tiny DSLR cameras that are coming out. One of my coworkers showed me his new Lumix with interchangable lenses this week, and it was ridiculously awesome. After lugging my huge DSLR and wide-angle lens around Europe for a month this winter, it made me SO wish that I could have just tucked away this little guy in my pocket. So cool! I can’t wait to see how the technology evolves!

Have a great weekend everyone!
