Newsflash for ranch lovers! Did you know that it is super duper easy to make delicious ranch seasoning mix homemade?
True story. No need to run to the store for one of those processed packets, or to pick up a jar of your favorite ranch dressing or dip. All of the ingredients are likely sitting right there in your spice cabinet! Just do a little measuring, a little mixing, and you’re ready to make your favorite ranch dressing or dip or whatever other ranch-ness you may love in less than 5 minutes. It is seriously that easy!
The great thing too about homemade ranch seasoning is that it won’t be full of un-pronounceable mystery ingredients. Just your simple herbs and spices, and some optional powdered buttermilk if you’d like (similar to powdered milk).
I love using mine to make skinny Greek yogurt ranch dip, ranch dressing, or I’ll even just use the mix to season some chicken or fries. Delish!!!
Whenever anyone asks me for a Valentine’s dessert recipe recommendation, my first response has always been this flourless chocolate cake. I posted it on the blog years ago, but it is still one of my all-time favs — partly because it’s easy to make and only calls for three ingredients, and party because it is chocolatey chocolicious chocotastic chocolightful heaven.
But alas, any of my friends will tell you that while I like chocolate, I only like a little of it. Call me crazy, but it has always been so rich to me that I’m happily satisfied after a bite or two. (Here is where my mom reads this and sighs.) But alas, when I was recently reorganizing my kitchen and was putting away my favorite mini cheesecake pan, the idea occurred to me – mini flourless chocolate cakes!
Brilliant? Brilliant.
It’s basically the exact same recipe, but bite-sized and topped with some whipped cream and sprinkles. Just because. :)
If you want another fun twist, my friend Sara mentioned that she recently made her flourless chocolate cake with orange dark chocolate bars – yum! Or you could add in a little cinnamon and chili for a mayan chocolate twist. Or mix in some extra sea salt. Or, you could just go with the classic recipe. Either way, I think this bite-sized version of flourless chocolate cake is definitely my new favorite way to enjoy this recipe. Enjoy!
Ok, I promise this is my last conversation hearts recipe!
For those of you who are just tuning in, I went a little candy-crazy last week with this conversation heart Strawberries and Cream Cake and Valentine’s Popcorn. But in my defense, I’m a big fan of using up leftover food. And when I began making these brownies for my book club on Friday night, I couldn’t resist sprinkling on a few of the remaining conversation hearts I still had. So behold, I present to you…conversation heart brownies!
This week I finally spent some long overdue time reorganizing my kitchen cabinets. As much as I love a beautifully organized pantry, the reality of my life is that:
a) I am one of the least naturally organized people I know.
b) I live in a loft and have extremely limited cabinet space.
c) I try to cram two kitchens’ worth of stuff into my little loft.
I have been dreaming about making this cake ever since conversation hearts first landed in the stores this season. I mean, what could be better — you can have your cake, and eat it too, and read it too!! ;)
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! And for all of you out there who “heart” popcorn as much as I do, I have the quick and easy perfect snack for you — Valentine’s Popcorn!
This is actually just a simple recipe for white chocolate popcorn, gussied up a bit for V-Day. But I had a little too much fun when I started playing with sprinkles, so I ended up making and photographing not one but two versions of this “lovely” popcorn for you.
We’re taking a break from our regularly scheduled food programming today to bring you…a crafty DIY post!!!
This simple art project was actually inspired by a going-away gift that I made for my sweet friend and neighbor, Cassie, as she and her husband Paul moved away from Kansas City this past week. I knew that Cassie shared my love for both sprinkles and Missouri, so I thought it would be fun to combine the two into a simple piece of DIY art that they could take to their new home. The picture I gave Cassie had two hearts for their two homes. But when some friends were over and saw the piece in progress, they mentioned that they wanted to try making one for themselves with a single city. So I decided to make a second version and photograph the process to share with you all!
Before I head off to go hang out with friends and snack on game day food galore (ok, and maybe watch a few minutes of football in there somewhere), I wanted to pop in and share this week’s Gimme Some Weekend Roundup! We have all sorts of great things to share this week, including:
