If you’re still searching for an apt gift to give a book lover, Amazon has several options available for Prime shipping that could still arrive before Christmas if you buy now!

part one: a few female authors

The following gift guide focuses on books written by Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, and Lousia May Alcott, along with their movie counterparts.

In honour of {word wednesday}…

coun·ter·part (noun)

  • A person or thing holding a position or performing a function that
corresponds to that of another person or thing in a different area.

Good books ignite our imagination…and inspire filmmakers. It’s fascinating to me that some books continue to be made into films over and over again. Sometimes it’s because the previous version wasn’t done well, but occasionally each version shines a different light on the story and is good for its own particular reasons.

As a reader, having the option to see my favourite books on film gives me one more way to appreciate the story I love. It also provides a way for me to introduce others to my favourite stories, who may not want to read or have time to read.

So — think of this gift guide as a way to share great stories in all forms. Maybe you give the movie of your favourite book to your significant other, so you can finally talk about why you love it. Maybe you give every movie version of a book to an avid fan so they can hunt down all the differences. Whatever your reason, here’s a line up of classic complimentary combos for you to choose from.

Jane Austen

Charlotte Brontë

Jane Eyre

Louisa May Alcott

Little Women
