{monday melodies} a song to start your week

It’s winter and if you’re living in the Midwest, it is COLD outside. Streets are starting to get that midwinter dingy look; and even though it’s a new year, the magic of New Year’s has worn off, and the January grumble has begun. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

1. Push play on Jónsi’s Go Do. [track 1 on his 2010 album: Go]
2. Let that delightfully chirpy intro envelope you.
3. Try not to think of Spring.

4. Just try.

5. Now, listen to the words. (And remember that words don’t have to be complex to inspire.)

Here is a condensed version of the lyrics:

Go Do lyrics by Jónsi | gimmesomereads.com

Within a week of first hearing this song, I made a ringtone of the intro (and yes, this was years before that Windows phone commercial). My old phone also let me use it as my alarm, and it surprised me how much happier I woke up to that chipper twittering. Sadly, my current phone only allows preprogrammed (aggressive!) sounds for alarms. But, that need not predetermine my outlook for the day.

So, in case you need to be reminded of this simple truth as much as I do today…remember: we can do anything.

  1. Such great lyrics! And I love the photo of the flowers coming up amidst the leaves. :)

    • I think that’s one reason I love crocus and other tiny, early spring flowers — b/c they pop up amidst last year’s dingy leftovers.

  2. Very lovely Beth. This is exactly what I needed to read today.

  3. Feeling more hopeful already!
