Chocolate and I go way back. I suspect my love affair with it probably began when my parents presented me with a big chocolate cake on my high chair tray for my first birthday. They stood back and watched as I attacked that cake with both hands, like a baby in battle, crumbs and icing strewn all over my face and hands. I was hooked. I’m pretty sure it’s still one of the best birthday gifts I’ve ever had, because when else is it perfectly acceptable to tear into the cake of your dreams like that? Oh the perks of being young and uninhibited…

The way I approach chocolate cake now, or any chocolate dessert for that matter, is much more graceful and civilized (on the outside at least). My granny won’t eat chocolate past noon (she says it keeps her up at night), but I abide by the mantra of having chocolate any time, any day, and preferably often. Life’s too short.

Valentine’s Day is just a week away, and whether you celebrate or not, you should definitely take a moment to enjoy something you love. For us, that includes chocolate, and we’re not talking Russell Stover nonsense. We’re talking deep, dark, unadulturated chocolate, and in many, plentiful forms. We figured you’re probably on the same wavelength, which is why we’ve found 15 chocolate dessert recipes to fall in love with this Valentine’s Day. From tempting tarts and sultry cakes, to a luscious triple chocolate mousse, we’ve covered all the chocolate bases. What’s not to love?
