15 Thanksgiving Side Dishes

For some, a Thanksgiving meal is all about the bird, the star of the show, and everything else is just second fiddle. While I can appreciate a well-brined, perfectly roasted, succulent turkey, for me, it’s really about the supporting cast of sides. What would Thanksgiving dinner be without cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and stuffing? I refuse to even imagine. All of the varying textures, flavors and aromas of Thanksgiving sides work together to make each other sing, and to make that turkey all the more magical.
We kept this roundup pretty traditional with the exception of a couple variants. Maybe we’re just classic and sentimental, but these sides to us, are iconic of that magical Thanksgiving meal we get to indulge in once a year.

Thanks for this! This is so great. I agree about all the wonderful side dishes. I usually fill my plate with those first before I even consider turkey. Your cranberry and pistachio baked bree looks amazing.
