birthday giveaway: planters spice collection!

Indeed. I am now the ripe old age of 27. :)  So to celebrate, and to celebrate Gimme Some Oven’s new Facebook page, we’re doing a giveaway!!!

I’m super excited about this one, as it has been sponsored by one of my favorite local spice and gardening stores – Planters! Located in the heart of Kansas City’s downtown City Market, this is my favorite place in town to buy spices, seasonings, my oh-so-favorite blackening powder, and fresh herb and veggie plans galore! They also have a fantastic website, where any of you non-locals can check out their selection.

For this giveaway, though, thought it would be fun to feature some of Planters’ most popular rubs that Kansas City (and especially KC bbq!) is famous for, including:

  • Applewood Smoke Rub
  • BBQ Spice
  • Jamaican Jerk Seasoning
  • Lemon Herb
  • Mequite Seasoning
  • Rotisserie Seasoning
  • Steak Seasoning
  • Tequila Lime Seasoning

So enter to win, and have an extra-fun time grilling and cooking this summer!!! (Read below for details.)

Definitely Rotisserie Seasoning. Nothing like a roasted chicken soup to comfort the soul. :)

  29. My spice is Bay Seasoning!

After going away to a sweet little beach town a few summers go, I came across family from Maryland who were going crabbing. They invited me and my husband to stay for a feast (they had caught somewhere around 80 crabs!) I was invited to help prepare the crabs and side dishes and i noticed that they put Bay Seasoning on EVERYTHING. I was a bit skittish at first but i must admit, all of the food was amazing. I’ll never forget that meal and now I try Bay Seasoning in some of the oddest dishes..and I love it!! :)

  30. Applewood smoke rub, all the way!

  31. I can’t choose between the gourmet garlic seasoning and the garlic w/ roasted red peppers.

  32. It’s hard to pick a favorite spice, but if pressed I’d say smoked paprika, followed closely by coriander.

    My email is christie.hatw@gmail.com

  33. I actually make us my seasoning as I go depending on what I have in the cupboard and what I’m using it for.

  34. Tequila Lime Rub!

  43. Happy Birthday!
Lemon Herb sounds delicious. I use onion powder, za’tar, and cumin all the time

    wind_rider042@yahoo.com

  44. Tequila Lime:) Happy Birthday!

  45. I love spices, herbs and seasonings and have way too many since I cook food from around the globe especially Indian food. Of the ones you mentioned above I would choose the Steak Seasoning. I am more of a fish and veggie kinda girl but my kids and dh are confirmed carnivores with an emphasis on beef. So every Saturday I cook steak and we have family night together. Since my dh’s work hours are erratic we don’t often all eat together. This makes our Saturday steak night extra special. Other than that I am sure the Tequila Lime seasoning would rock on a nice salmon steak. Oh yum.

  46. Happy b-day! Does their French Onion Soup mix count? My husband got me some when he was in town for business and it’s really, really good. In general spice terms I am all about Old Bay Seasoning-must be a southern thing.

  47. Mmmm spices!!! I love lemon herb..on ANYTHING. :-)
