Hi. My name is Ali. And I watch “The Bachelor”.

I know, I know. Most of my friends give me the serious raised eyebrow when they find out that every Monday night (or usually, every Tuesday morning on Hulu) I tune in along with millions across the nation who just have to see if Bachelor Sean will once again say that “this process is working for him”. Or to watch the incredible dates that he has “planned” for these eager girls. Or, to hear my favorite line (that is used 3928 times in every single episode) — that they are all just so optimistic that they will “find love”.

Yes, I am one of the many that roll my eyes the entire way through and am well-aware that the producers have coached and scripted practically each line of this dating phenomenon. But after (yes) countless seasons, I will confess that I’m still a fan. And love my weekly dose of American TV Dating Sociology 101. (Especially with Sean – he’s surpassing my expectations!)

Without a doubt, though, the best thing about the “Bach” is watching it with friends! I have more friends than would probably admit who watch the show, and I love our weekly texts, calls, and the occasional in-person viewing party to oh-so-passionately weigh in with our opinions about “THE MOST DRAMATIC SEASON EVER”.

A few weeks ago, I had the rare opportunity to watch an episode live with a group of friends. (Yay for a Tuesday night episode!)  And my friend, Bree, surprised us with these Coconut Oil Rice Krispie Treats. I’m pretty sure they might have stolen the show that evening. She just subbed in coconut oil for half of the butter, and they were crazy good!! Even those who were iffy about coconut gobbled these up. Ridiculously good.

Ok, does anyone else admit to watching The Bachelor? Who are you rooting for this season?

  1. I love how simple this recipe is. I have oodles of coconut oil and this would be the perfect little treat! Can you taste the coconut in them or is it so subtle the buttery marshmallow goodness outshines it?

  2. Just when I think that a regular rice krispie treat can’t get any better, you show up with these Ali. :) I love how simple this is! Blonde moment – why haven’t I ever done this before! Love!

  6. If I don’t watch The Bachelor can I still have some of these treats? I’m nuts for anything coconut-y

  7. My friend and I watch it every Monday together with wine and dessert (along with our significant others, but sshhhh, that’s a secret). I’m pretty sure we make fun of it the entire time, but it’s so freaking entertaining.

I love the idea of coconut oil rice krispies treats. I wonder if you could sub out all the butter for coconut oil? Either way, sounds delicious!

  8. I watch it with my friends too! these would be fun to make for the season finale! Thanks! :)

  9. We have a Bachelor watching party every Monday night! It’s absolutely one of the highlights of my week… the show’s pretty ridiculous, but laughing and watching it with friends is the best! And it’s also an awesome chance for some treats! I love using coconut oil in desserts (just recently discovered the genius). Definitely pinning this to try!

  10. LOVE the addition of coconut oil! Ill definitely have to try these!!

  11. These look so good, I love the coconut oil!

  12. These look delish!!! I admit to watching this season and I’m loving this season!! I’m rooting for Lindsey!

  13. I used to be a faithful Bachelor watcher, but then many moons ago my husband took over the TV and got his way!

  14. What a great idea! I love rice krispie treats – they totally take me back to my childhood!

  15. Ok I’m glad it’s not just me watching the Bachelor/ette! I swear, every season I say “ok this is it, I’m done with this show” and then I get sucked back in when it starts up again :)

I just recently bought some coconut oil and have been looking for new ways to use it – love this one!

  16. Yum! I bought coconut oil for the first time a few weeks ago to make this smoothie that was supposed to give me fantastic skin (jury’s out on that one). Now I can use the rest of it!

And have you heard of “Fantasy Bachelor”? One of my friends told me about it recently — it’s like fantasy football, where you draft Bachelor contestants and get points whenever they go on dates, get roses, cry, get drunk, say they’re there “for the right reasons,” etc. I haven’t watched the Bachelor since college, but this made me want to start back up!

  17. Ah ah…I won’t judge :-) I watch some reality shows myself and my husband gets mad at me sometimes for doing so!! I just need to disconnect once in a while and watch something that requires no concentration :-)
I have never thought of making these with coconut oil. A very smart move!!

  18. Coconut oil is my new obsession. Adding it into rice krispie treats is a genius idea! Another one of my obessions? The Bachelor. I’m hooked! Definitely combining these two next week :)

  19. I’m no longer a Bachelor viewer but I watch more than my share of trashy TV. Using coconut oil in Rice Krispies treats is such a great idea!

  20. DELISH! Just made them and they’re magical! Thanks for yet another great recipe!! Also, I think it’s cute that you said they’ll keep for a week. As if they’d last that long! :)

  21. Monday is my favorite night ;) The girls come over for snacks, wine, and trash talking. My Chris Harrison impressions have earned me rave reviews. These krispie treats will definitely be making an appearance next Monday!

  22. I don’t watch the Bachelor, but no judgment from me. I’m more of a Real House Wives fan. Both show are a good excuse to drink wine and eat rice crispy treats!

  23. Seriously Ali, the Bachelor..ay! ;) Baywatch is 100 times better than the Bach!!

  24. No one will ever take away your sparkle!

  25. I watch, too. And probably always will! :) If you want to read amazing recaps that are almost BETTER than the actual show, check out Drew’s blog: https://www.rocket-shoes.com/

These rice krispie treats looks awesome. I’m excited to start baking with coconut oil!

  26. Love the use of coconut oil here! And I could totally snack on these ALL day.

And no judgement here of you watching Bachelor. I don’t watch Bachelor myself but I do watch some pretty trashy shows myself :)

  27. I’ve never been a fan of “The Bachelor,” but these krispie treats are making me fall in love!

  28. We make these treats with CO all the time. When cooking GF and CF, you get creative. Friends have decided they prefer the ones made with all coconut oil to those made with butter (or that horrid substitute margarine).

  29. I was just talking to a friend about possibly subbing coconut oil for butter in rice Krispy treats because my poor little guy is super lactose intolerant and misses out on yummy stuff. I’m gonna try them with only the coconut oil and see what happens. Thanks for the inspiration!!

  30. Thanks for the recipe. I just made for my dairy allergic child with only coconut oil. I had forgotten how much fun and how easy to make!

  31. Coconut oil makes everything better!!!

  32. This is my second time making them. This time I used brown rice crisps and vegan marshmellows (which are GF) for my daughter who is vegan.they were still amazingly good!there is a subtle coconut flavor but the texture is so good better than regular rice crispy treats

  33. Having to find recipes for my teenage daughter who now has food allergies and these made her do a happy dance!!!  The only thing I changed, was a vegan butter instead of real butter and they are delicious!!!

  34. I was just googling around for a more gourmet version of Rice Krispie treats (which I am CRAZY about)  and am dying to try this! What a great idea!

  35. Luv this! Never knew these could be so easy.

  36. I made the reduced fat  reduced sugar version
only  1 1/2 T coconut oil, only half of the bag of 10 oz marshmallow  and  6 cup of rice crisp and some grounded almond .
you will be suprised you do not really need that much marshmallow

  37. Can I sub all of the butter with coconut oil?
I need to make some soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free treats for a wedding shower. And, these look like a great option. While I realize this is an older posting, I hope you’ll respond. Many thanks!
