I often have trouble keeping track of all my jewelry. I usually will end up taking it off while I’m sitting on the couch or getting ready for bed and then it never seems to find it’s way back in to it’s designated location — partly because I can be extremely lazy, but also because I never had a good home for my jewelry to begin with!

I was at an estate sale a few weeks back and saw this adorable cupcake tin for 25 cents. I didn’t really need a new cupcake tin but how can you pass up a mint green beauty like this?? So of course I bought it… (this is a trend of mine-I just can’t pass up a good deal!)

When I brought it home, I just set it on my dresser and it began to accumulate random things inside of it. That is when I realized that it was pretty great for storage! I then just grabbed a bunch of my jewelry and stuck it in there. It has been a great way for me to be able to display my jewelry and keep track of it all at the same time. I have even found myself wearing different pieces that I normally forgot about!

I loved the original mint green color with this one. But if you buy even a standard metal pan, you can always paint it (or spray painting might be even easier) to match your decor.

What about you guys? Have any of you used a kitchen item for something other than baking? Have you recently found an item that you had forgotten about?

  1. Love this idea!!! I think it’s only appropriate that, as a food blogger, I go thrifting for a super-cute tin to make it happen. ;)

  2. Bril. Liant. This is such a simple idea and such a perfect one. My favorite kitchen item alternate uses are coconut oil as lotion (I keep a jar in my bathroom) and cornstarch as dry shampoo (yep, there’s a box stashed with my hairdryer).

  3. This is SUCH a good idea!! I spray painted a tray utensil holder one time and was planning on hanging it on the wall and hanging my necklaces in it, but each section wasn’t long enough for my necklaces. So that didn’t exactly work out- I love your idea much more!

  4. Love this idea, so simple, so clean, and so cute!! Love the mint green, thanks for the ideas Liz! Keep them coming.

  5. Love this idea! My jewelry usually ends up in a giant tangled mess from being in one big box. This would be a great way to separate my necklaces.

  6. This is awesome. Crazy timing bc I have been raking my brain trying to figure out my jewelry storage dilemma. Thanks for the tip!

    • Glad I could help! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Hopefully I will have many more ideas that apply to you! :)

  7. Wow Liz, how creative! You are certainly showing your personality and abilities. Great job.

  8. If this catches on there could be a worldwide shortage of cupcakes.

  9. I keep feeling like all of your ideas are for me, because I need a new way to store my jewelry and I love this.
