What are style snapshots?

Every now and then I will post an outfit I put together, along with links for where to find the articles of clothing or something similar. Read on for the details from my night on the town!
Style Snapshot: A Night on the Town | gimmesomestyleblog.com

(Shirt and skirt: Old Navy, Tights: Target, Shoes and belt: Thrifted, Earrings: Vintage)

Last week I celebrated a dear friend of mine getting married! I knew we were going out for a nice dinner and then off to more activities, but I wasn’t sure how dressy people were planning on getting. I decided to go a little bold with the bright yellow skirt, but then paired a more casual shirt with it. Sometimes it is nice to break out of the normal routine and try something a little different! It was such a great night and I couldn’t be more happy for her!

What are some of your favorite colors to wear? Anyone enjoyed their own night on the town lately?

Ok, I know I’m your mom, but you look amazing!!! You have such a gift of taking pieces of clothing, and making them come together in a great outfit! You are beautiful from the inside out!! I love you!

I love it!! You seriously always look so cute! I don’t really think I have any certain colors that I like to wear- all I know is I love sweatpants ;).

    1. liz says:

Haha you do love sweatpants… I think you wear shades of blues, pinks and purples… yes? :) And you always look cute!!

LOVE this – especially the skirt! :)

Good reminder too that I can totally wear some of my open-toed sandal-ish shoes with tights. I feel like most of the time I wear the same 2 pairs of close-tied shoes to every single wedding or dressy event when it’s cold out. No more – excited to try breaking out the tights and bring back some of my other favorite shoes!

I know what you mean! I used to always wear the same shoes in the winter and I am really trying to work more pairs into my outfits!

ahh yes! EVERY winter I look at my shoes when I have to dress up for something and ask (myself), “WHAT IS THE RULE ABOUT TIGHTS WITH OPEN-TOED SHOES?” and then default to the closed toed. But no more…probably just need to throw that whole “fashion rules” idea out the window anyway. :)

    3. Maux says:

oh and ahem…excuse me…*get* to dress up for something :)

      :)

I usually end up breaking most of the fashion rules.. But I have noticed that most of the rules have changed anyway.. I just go for whatever I like now :)

Everything you put together always looks super cute! Love that bold look! Your look is so versatile by changing your tights and adding boots it would look like a completely new outfit.

    1. liz says:

So true Vanessa! I will be doing a post periodically on the blog called mix it up where I take some of the same pieces of clothing and work them in to new outfits just like you are talking about!

Looking good, Liz! That yellow really works on you. I have a obsessively pared down color palette: white, black, grey, army green, sometimes grey-blue, a little red. Keeps it super simple for me, but seeing that yellow skirt makes me think maybe I’m missing out!

My eyes always wander towards the neutrals too when I’m shopping so I am working on getting more adventurous! :)
