25 days of giveaways: $150 heifer international gift certificate

Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

To conclude the “25 Days of Giveaways” here at Gimme Some Oven, I would love to do a different kind of giveaway. :)

Heifer International has been one of my favorite organizations ever since I was a little girl. Established back in 1944, this amazing non-profit has a mission to “end poverty and hunger in a sustainable fashion”. They are probably most known for inviting people to give “live” gifts to those in need. When I was younger, I remember saving up to sponsor little chicks or goats to be sent to families across the world. And now as an adult, they’re still at it, and I’m even more impressed with the organization’s structure and mission behind the scenes. They are a non-prof run with such integrity and care, and the work they are helping do in the world is making an unbelievable and needed difference.

So for the final giveaway, I will be sponsoring a $150 gift certificate for the winner to use at www.heifer.com. You could use it to buy a goat, a sheep, llama, pig, or rabbits. You could use it to buy a flock of chicks, ducks, or geese. Or you could use it to buy a gardener’s gift package, or any number of other amazing gifts. So many amazing options that will truly be a gift to one of our brothers and sisters around the world.

So please check out Heifer International’s amazing organization, and feel free to enter the giveaway below. And so many thanks for participating in this month’s giveaways, everyone! You are the best!!! I wish you all a meaningful, inspiring Christmas…and a great new year of cooking to come! :)

I’m really excited about this one! This is my favorite one yet because I’ve always wanted to do Heifer International but I haven’t really had enough money to buy a pig for somebody. Pig and bees!! Pig and bees!!

  13. I like GimmeSomeOven on facebook

  14. I like Heifer international on facebook

  15. This is an amazing organization. I would love to be able to help someone with a gift like this.

  16. I love Heifer International – a lot! My family has been giving each other heifer gifts for years during the holiday season! I love the honey bees and would love to give those as a gift, also the chickens. Traditionally I like to give gifts through heifer that serve more than one purpose. If I win this gift maybe I’ll try the water buffalo or pigs :)

  17. I’d love to have this gift certificate to help others out in less prosperous places this holiday season! Heifer is such an inspiring company, and I know this money will go to good use.

  18. I like the heifer project because of all the people it helps. Lot’s of people around the world helped though this program. That is why I like this program.

  19. The Gardeners gift basket seems like a great gift, although buying an entire animal seems like it would be really helpful as well!

  20. This is the best idea! I’ve given some chickens through Heifer International before.

  21. I like Gimme Some Oven on facebook!

  22. What a wonderful way to end your giving! I LOVE the idea of giving to others in a way to make the world better for someone!

  23. I also think this is a wonderful organization and I think that chickens and ducks would be a good choice because the recipients could have eggs and also meat eventually.

  24. I’d like to win because I’d like to give a gardeners gift package! This is a wonderful idea for a giveaway. :) I love it.

  25. I think this is a fabulous give away. I don’t even mind not winning. In the end, many will win with this prize. I am soooo tired of the “present” frenzy that I go through at Christmas. This year I threatened to send a goat and a chicken to a family in India in the names of each of my children and grand children. My husband didn’t agree. I argued that 1) recipient would appreciate the gift 2) they could use it to supplement their income, 3) they could also use it to provide food for their family…. and ….. 4) it would not wind up in a yard sale next spring (no matter how much they said they wanted / needed the gift they were given!!!)

Next year I will not be spending money on frivolous toys or other unnecessary gifts. Compassion International or even Heifer International will be sending something useful to those who will appreciate it much more than my spoiled children and grand children will ever appreciate a gift.

    I applaud your choice here!

    Nancy Clark

  26. For instance, I take advantage of my 14″ GE Xl44s to cook turkeys and much larger specialty meats. My 8″ Dutch GE Xl44 I will use for sides of rice or sauces.

  27. This is such a great organization.

  28. What a great giveaway. I love Heifer.

  30. Wow, I had no idea about this organization! How awesome!!

  31. I would love to use it to “purchase” a Dream Gift Basket and a couple of Flocks of Chicks or Geese (I’d make up the difference)

  32. https://twitter.com/#!/cmouse01/status/151741168894476288

  33. I would love to do the Give where Most Needed. Instead of picking my favorite or what’s cutest, I’d love to give to the person who needs the most.

  34. What a great idea! Our family has done this in lieu of Christmas in past years. If I would win the Heifer International gift certificate, I would purchase a goat and the bees. Thanks for the 25 days of giving….it was fun to partake.

  35. I would purchase goats! I’ve heard they are great for providing milk & cheese.

  36. i love the idea of this final giveaway, being something that will give back to others. What a perfect way to remind us of whats truly important this holiday season. I would love to gift a goat!

  39. Love this. I would love to win and let my son pick out what we should give, we adopted him from Ethiopia this year and we gave him 50 dollars for Christmas to give through a site similar to Heifer International and he was so disappointed that he couldn’t give so much more. I know he would love this!!! So great to see his giving heart!

  40. I would give the Gardener’s Gift Basket!

  41. Already a fan of Gimme Some Oven on FB.

  42. Liked Heifer International on FB also.

  43. Ali, this is wonderful! I would go for the gardner’s packet!

  44. I love Heifer International! Such a good idea Ali! I would probably obsess over the entire “catalog” of things to “buy” for weeks before deciding

  45. I’ve done a similar thing with World Vision, and I would love to have the opportunity again with Heifer!

  46. Heifer is a wonderful organization. We support it and our church does an annual Heifer campaign as a part of its mission program. I enjoy giving gifts to Heifer in honor of people’s birthdays and as Christmas gifts. It is a way to pay your blessings forward. I am so pleased to see you supporting it on your blog.

  47. I like you on fb! And I loveee Heifer!

  48. We buy an animal (or several) from Heifer in honor of our family every year. It makes the best Christmas gift ever. For people who really don’t need things, giving to someone who does is a great gift.

  49. Darn, I can’t believe I missed this one! I love the Heifer foundation and gave a donation as a gift to my husband’s cousin. But even though I missed it, I’m so glad that a charitable donation was given away. Happy New Year to you!

  50. I would love to get something for my grandparents. They used to have a farm, and I think this would help occupy their day while allowing them to benefit from caring for an animal.
