Pineapple Ginger Smoothie

Many of you longtime followers know that I’m not a big believer in “recipes” when it comes to smoothies.  My method of choice is always “a little of this, a little of that”, usually based on whatever fresh produce happens to be hanging around my house.

But a smoothie I made this week happened to be exceptionally tasty.  So I decided to snap a quick pic and share it with you all.

It’s basically a simple pineapple smoothie, featuring some healthy Greek yogurt, banana, and my favorite smoothie ingredient — fresh ginger!  All in all a delicious, light, and wonderfully fresh tasting citrus smoothie.  Feel free to substitute in your favorite citrus fruits, but I happen to be partial to my beloved piña.  So pineapple it is for me!  Enjoy!!

  4. I used a can of crushed pineapple and then all the juice from that! It worked great! I will be making this again for sure. It topped off a beautiful brunch with my family!

  5. I tried this today, I doubled the recipe and used canned pineapple. I tried downing a glass at one time but it was really spicey.

I liked it though – I’ve never had a smoothie before.

  6. I’ll try that recipe for sure, I usually add green stuff but your version has to be more refreshing. BTW, I’ve been looking for those jars with handle. Where can I buy them? They would be perfect for beer.

  14. I have had this pinned for ages and just tried it. Amazing! My whole family loved it. I made one substitution, instead of water or pineapple juice, I used Parrot Bay coconut rum. :-) It was a nice summer day afternoon cocktail. Thanks so much for this recipe. I will be making it often.

  18. We’re on very similar smoothie pages – I usually do the same “whatever’s here, plus Greek yogurt and a frozen banana” thing. Lately my absolute *favorite* has been pretty similar to the one above, but it’s pineapple with a couple handfuls of chopped cilantro…it. is. amazing.
(But I’m still gonna have to try it with the ginger, lol…sounds delish!)

  27. Can I use ginger powder instead of fresh ginger? Would I use the same amount?

    • Hi Steve,

Sure, you can sub in ginger powder. But you’ll want to use WAY less. Usually I estimate 1/4 teaspoon for every 1 Tablespoon of fresh ginger. Enjoy!

  30. I have been looking for a good smoothie recipe with fresh pineapple and fresh ginger as they are great inflammation fighters for back pain and arthritis, this one looks good. I would like to add turmeric about 1 tablespoon, how would this affect the taste if so how would you alter the recipe to balance it?

  31. This is loaded with sugar. These fruits are high in sugar…so is yogurt How is this healthy

  37. I made without banana but I added honey and it was so yummy!  I don’t like the mix of banana and pineapple, but the mix of pineapple with ginger is so delicious! Thankssssss!

  47. I will definitely be trying this smoothie in the morning! Ginger is great for digestion, and since I’m usually not a breakfast person, I think it would be something great to start my day with. And pineapple?! YUM! Who could say no to that. Thank you so, so much for sharing <3

  48. If you can not have dairy, can you just add kale or spinach in place of the yogurt?

    • Hi Beverly! If you cannot have dairy, we would recommend a non-dairy milk (almond/soy/coconut/cashew — any one of those would be great in this). We hope you enjoy!
