In honour of the end of 2012, I was thinking about quotes on endings and my thoughts immediately turned to T. S. Eliot’s Four Quartets. Flipping through the final pages, preparing to write this post, I was delighted to come across the following section, being myself in England on a winter’s day, this New Year’s Eve.

Lovely to have had two such England moments with Eliot this year — today and back in July. I am grateful. And very curious what next year holds!

Hope the end of your year is a good one.

happy new year’s eve from oxford!
