Been thinking about hope the past few days, so wanted to share a few quotes on hope from J.R.R. Tolkien’sย The Hobbit, Marilynne Robinson’sย Gilead, Anne Lamott’sย Bird by Bird, and George Iles, that I found in my quote archives.ย (Seeing the quote from Lamott’s book reminded me that I definitely need to get back to reading it — and finally finishing!)

Happy hope-filled Friday everyone! Just think how much closer we are to Spring!

  1. DavidH says:

Hope is the thing with feathers
    That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
    And never stops at all
    –Emily Dickinson

Ah yes. The “never stops at all” bit kind of flies in the face of what I was writing about in my everyday-poetry post; unless I read it as hope never stops, though my feeling of hopefulness might wane now and then. Hrm… interesting.
