Crispy, garlicky, and ready in 15 minutes!

If you love roasted mushrooms but want them even faster, it’s time to meet your new favorite side dish — air fryer mushrooms. These bite-sized beauties cook up golden brown and deeply savory with almost no effort at all.

Just toss your mushrooms with olive oil, soy sauce, and a few pantry seasonings, then let the air fryer work its magic. In less than 15 minutes, you’ll have perfectly caramelized mushrooms with crispy edges and a rich umami flavor that pairs with just about anything.

Serve them as a quick side with steak or salmon, toss them into pasta or risotto, or (my fave) grab a fork and eat them right out of the air fryer basket as a savory snack. However you serve them, these air fryer mushrooms are guaranteed to disappear fast!

Tips For Success

A few simple tricks will help your mushrooms turn out irresistibly flavorful every time:

  • Preheat the air fryer: Give your air fryer a few minutes to heat up before adding the mushrooms — this helps them brown more evenly from the start.
  • Don’t crowd the basket: Arrange mushrooms more or less in a single layer for the best crisping. If you double the batch, cook in two rounds.
  • Shake halfway through: Give the basket a good shake around the halfway mark to help the mushrooms brown evenly.
  • Serve immediately: Air fryer mushrooms are best enjoyed hot from the basket when their edges are crisp and warm.

Variations

These mushrooms are endlessly customizable! Try a few of these tasty twists:

  • Use different mushrooms: White button, shiitake, or oyster mushrooms all work beautifully here too. Just keep an eye on them during the final few minutes of cooking to see if they need more or less time.
  • Add butter: Stir in a pat of butter after cooking for extra richness.
  • Make them herby: Toss with fresh thyme or rosemary before air frying, or fresh parsley before serving.
  • Add spice: Sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes or drizzle with chili crisp for heat.
  • Try balsamic: Drizzle with a touch of balsamic glaze after cooking for tangy depth.
  • Add cheese: Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan while warm so it melts slightly.
