3-Ingredient Peppermint Sugar Scrub -- super quick and easy to make, and great for your skin (and for gifting!) | gimmesomeoven.com

Scrub-a-dub-dub! I made you another recipe for the tub!

Actually, this peppermint sugar scrub is so simple that it hardly counts as a recipe. But I thought I’d share it for anyone else out there who might be looking for some last-minute DIY gifts for the holidays (your friends will love it!). Or for anyone who has stocked up on tons of essential oils and is looking for extra ways to use them (I know you’re out there!). Or for anyone else out there who might be looking for a touch of extra relaxation during the busy holidays (hello, soothing qualities of peppermint!). This scrub is calling your name.

Plus, it’s super easy to customize, it only requires about 3 ingredients (with no actual peppermints), and it’s ready to go in literally about 1 minute.

Shall we?

Ok, sorry if I threw anyone off with the actual peppermints in the photo. This sugar scrub recipe actually just uses peppermint essential oil in it for that minty fresh flavor. If you really want, you could ground up some peppermints and toss them in too, but they will turn your scrub a bit pink.

To make the peppermint sugar scrub, simply mix together:

  • 1 cup granulated white sugar (or any sugar)
  • 1/2 cup mild-flavored oil (grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or melted-but-not-hot coconut oil)
  • 8-12 drops essential oils (or more/less to your desired strength)

Stir until combined. Then transfer the mixture to a cute little glass jar for storage and you’re ready to go!

I used Weck tulip jars (the 1/5 jelly jars) for mine and tied some red bakers twine around them for decor, but any mason jars or covered containers will work.

To keep things simple, I just made my scrub with straight peppermint essential oil. But adding in a few drops of lavender, vanilla, or any other fruity essential oils would also pair lovely with mint.

Quick. Simple. And so soothing and perfect for stressful days, chilly months, dry skin, and just anytime you feel like a scrub in a tub.

I am super excited to try this out! I am curious how long these scrubs will last? I want to make about a dozen for my coworkers, but if I make them a week prior to handing them out would they still be ok?

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Oh yes, that will be fine! We think the scrub should last at least a couple of months if not longer. We hope they enjoy!

  5. Edita says:

I would not recommend to use white refined sugar as it is quite rough and it could damage your skin. Instead use brown sugar.

      Thanks for your tip, Edita!

  7. Jeannie says:

If I want to make this red, can I use red food coloring , or what else would you suggest?  Thanks!

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Hi Jeannie! Hmmm, we wouldn’t add red food coloring (we’re pretty sure it would stain everything when you use it). You might be able to find some red sugar? We hope you enjoy this!
