Hi. My name is Ali. And I watch “The Bachelor”.
I know, I know. Most of my friends give me the serious raised eyebrow when they find out that every Monday night (or usually, every Tuesday morning on Hulu) I tune in along with millions across the nation who just have to see if Bachelor Sean will once again say that “this process is working for him”. Or to watch the incredible dates that he has “planned” for these eager girls. Or, to hear my favorite line (that is used 3928 times in every single episode) — that they are all just so optimistic that they will “find love”.
Yes, I am one of the many that roll my eyes the entire way through and am well-aware that the producers have coached and scripted practically each line of this dating phenomenon. But after (yes) countless seasons, I will confess that I’m still a fan. And love my weekly dose of American TV Dating Sociology 101. (Especially with Sean – he’s surpassing my expectations!)
Without a doubt, though, the best thing about the “Bach” is watching it with friends! I have more friends than would probably admit who watch the show, and I love our weekly texts, calls, and the occasional in-person viewing party to oh-so-passionately weigh in with our opinions about “THE MOST DRAMATIC SEASON EVER”.
A few weeks ago, I had the rare opportunity to watch an episode live with a group of friends. (Yay for a Tuesday night episode!) And my friend, Bree, surprised us with these Coconut Oil Rice Krispie Treats. I’m pretty sure they might have stolen the show that evening. She just subbed in coconut oil for half of the butter, and they were crazy good!! Even those who were iffy about coconut gobbled these up. Ridiculously good.
Ok, does anyone else admit to watching The Bachelor? Who are you rooting for this season?

DELISH! Just made them and they’re magical! Thanks for yet another great recipe!! Also, I think it’s cute that you said they’ll keep for a week. As if they’d last that long! :)
I’m no longer a Bachelor viewer but I watch more than my share of trashy TV. Using coconut oil in Rice Krispies treats is such a great idea!
Coconut oil is my new obsession. Adding it into rice krispie treats is a genius idea! Another one of my obessions? The Bachelor. I’m hooked! Definitely combining these two next week :)
Ah ah…I won’t judge :-) I watch some reality shows myself and my husband gets mad at me sometimes for doing so!! I just need to disconnect once in a while and watch something that requires no concentration :-)
I have never thought of making these with coconut oil. A very smart move!!
Yum! I bought coconut oil for the first time a few weeks ago to make this smoothie that was supposed to give me fantastic skin (jury’s out on that one). Now I can use the rest of it!
And have you heard of “Fantasy Bachelor”? One of my friends told me about it recently — it’s like fantasy football, where you draft Bachelor contestants and get points whenever they go on dates, get roses, cry, get drunk, say they’re there “for the right reasons,” etc. I haven’t watched the Bachelor since college, but this made me want to start back up!
Ok I’m glad it’s not just me watching the Bachelor/ette! I swear, every season I say “ok this is it, I’m done with this show” and then I get sucked back in when it starts up again :)
I just recently bought some coconut oil and have been looking for new ways to use it – love this one!
What a great idea! I love rice krispie treats – they totally take me back to my childhood!
I used to be a faithful Bachelor watcher, but then many moons ago my husband took over the TV and got his way!
These look delish!!! I admit to watching this season and I’m loving this season!! I’m rooting for Lindsey!
These look so good, I love the coconut oil!
