the flask

Hobbit flask created by Stellar Custom Images

Let’s talk about that Hobbit flask. You get a 6 oz stainless steel flask sporting the vivid vintage book cover of The Hobbit; plus care instructions to ensure you can enjoy your flask for a long, long time. Stellar Custom Images‘ designs are coated with a thick epoxy resin that protects against the elements, so you don’t have to worry about your favourite Hobbit flask scratching or peeling. You may forget your pocket-handkerchiefs, but don’t leave behind your Hobbit flask the next time you run out the door on a dragon adventure.

Whether you turn out to be the lucky winner or you choose to buy a flask, you will appreciate the quality and clean simple detailing of Angela’s work. Be sure to check out the other designs she has and note that Angela can create custom flasks as well. Don’t forget to order a sweet flask-sized funnel, too.

the tote

Not all those who wander are lost — technically this quote is from Tolkien’s sequel to The Hobbit, but it’s still fitting for Hobbit week. Can’t you picture Bilbo carrying around just such a tote; filled of course with extra pocket-handkerchiefs, pipe tobacco, and probably some seed cakes in case he had to miss second breakfast. What would you fill your tote with?

Tote is made of 100% natural cotton canvas {10oz.} with a strong bottom gusset and is 15″ square by 4″ deep.

HandmadeandCraft is currently closed for vacation so you can’t shop Kimberly Layton’s creations today, but go check out her blog, Everything Etsy, and say hi.

    Just once!

  2. Manny says:

I’ve only read the Hobbit a few times, but Lord of the Rings, too many times to count!

Gandalf is my favorite, but I feel like that was heavily influenced by my Grandpa reading the book to me when I was really young.

    1. bet says:

how great to hear these stories read by your Grandpa! what a fun memory.

  3. Helen says:

Have read the Hobbit at least twice. Sacrilegious, but I think I preferred the Hobbit over LoTR as a 12 year old. Though the LoTR movies were EPIC, not to mention the soundtrack. So gorgeous.

    1. bet says:

It’s not sacrilegious – it’s your opinion. :) Have you seen the Hobbit movie (pt 1), yet?

  4. Nicah says:

I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve already asked “Santa” for JRR Tolkien’s LOTR books and I know I’ve been good this year. ;)

    1. bet says:

yay! let me know how you like them after you’ve read them!

  5. Kristin says:

I’ve read The Hobbit two or three times now. Either way, it’s awesome every time.

  6. Alice Wu says:

I’ve only read it once, but the new movie has inspired me to revisit Tolkien’s world.

    1. bet says:

yes! I love how the movies make you want to read the books. That isn’t always the case; but even as good as the movies are (and they are my favourite movies!), they are not enough in and of themselves — I need the books, too.

  7. Melissa says:

I love hobbits!!!! Went immediately after I got out of work last night! Awesome film, amazing books, incredible contest! Love those prints– Harshness is awesome!

    1. bet says:

      agreed :)

  8. stefanie phelps says:

I couldn’t even say I read it a few times I believe when I was younger and am about to read it again. Maybe 3 then.

  9. Donna O'Neil says:

    At least 4 times.

  10. Jessica W says:

These are great. The Hobbit has always been my husbands favorite and I finally read it at the beginning of the year, it was wonderful.
