This easy fruit salad recipe features a rainbow mix of fresh fruit tossed in a zippy ginger-lime dressing.
Nothing says summer quite like a big, beautiful bowl of fruit salad! ♡
I’ll be honest — I’m picky when it comes to fruit salads. You won’t find any filler fruit here (looking at you, apples and cantaloupe!). This one’s packed with all the good stuff: juicy berries and pineapple, fresh kiwis, crisp grapes, and a hint of soft banana. But the real magic is that zingy ginger-lime dressing. It’s bright, refreshing, and the grated fresh ginger adds just the right touch of warmth and spice to tie everything together.
I love serving this at brunches, picnics, or anytime our 4-year-old requests “rainbow fruit.” It comes together in minutes and disappears just as fast. Let’s make a batch together!
Fruit Salad Tips
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when making this fruit salad recipe:
Use ripe, in-season fruit.Flavor and texture are everything in a fruit salad, so choose fruit that’s sweet, juicy, and at its peak. Underripe or mealy fruit can throw off the whole bowl. (See notes below if you need ideas for easy substitutions.)
Add the bananas just before serving. Bananas tend to brown quickly, so I recommend adding them at the last minute to keep them looking and tasting fresh.
Adjust the dressing to taste. Depending on how tangy your limes are or how strong your ginger is, feel free to tweak the lime juice, honey, or ginger to get the balance just right.
Toss gently. This probably goes without saying, but be as gentle as possible when tossing to avoid bruising the fruit. That said, even if things get a little smooshed, it’ll still taste amazing!
Fruit Salad Variations
Here are a few more variations that you’re welcome to try with this fruit salad recipe:
Add different fruit: Add in blackberries, cherries, mango, nectarines, peaches, pomegranate arils, raspberries, or watermelon in place of (or in addition to) what’s listed. Just aim for a mix of textures and colors.
Add fresh mint or basil: Add a handful of chopped mint or basil leaves for an herby twist, which always pairs well with the ginger-lime dressing.
Add a pop of crunch: Just before serving, sprinkle on some toasted coconut, chopped pistachios, or slivered almonds for some extra texture.
