April Playlist -- perfect for spring! | gimmesomeoven.comIt’s spring! I’m working in a coffeehouse this morning, and the doors are all open. The sun is streaming in. The grass is getting green. Daffodils are everywhere. And all of a sudden, I’m out of winter hibernation mode and up for anything—including staying out late to see live music on Monday nights.

I just went way over my sensible bedtime to see The Bots and The Preatures play one of my favorite Kansas City small venues, The Record Bar. It made me remember how much I love being in the middle of a happy crowd, dancing along to music created by people who are having fun playing it.

I first saw The Bots, two teenaged brothers making imaginative and frenetic garage rock, open for one of my favorite bands this fall. There’s nothing like being won over by a band you’ve never heard before, to start moving to rhythms and melodies that surprise you.

So today’s playlist is full of new music (at least to me). I’m starting out with a couple tracks from The Bots and The Preatures, but the rest of the new music playlist is made up of artists I had never heard of before, that I found by searching new music lists on Spotify. I hope you get new-music shivers at least once while listening. I know I did!
