Barcelona City History Museum (MUHBA)

Barcelona City History Museum

What It Is:

A museum built atop (and inside) 2,000 year old Roman ruins – remnants of the ancient town of Barcino. It’s a great way to get a sense of the incredible depth of life this city has seen.

Where It’s Located:

Why We Love It:

In this beautiful collection, visitors are literally dropped into sprawling Roman ruins from 2,000 years ago. For those who like to have an historical perspective when they travel, this place offers a deep dive.  It might even give you insight on the remarkable complexity of Catalonia’s current political situation.

Our Recommendations:

  • If you like history, you’ll appreciate making this museum a part of your time in Barcelona. It’s €7 (includes audioguide) for an adult entry, so not a huge gamble.
  • For Museum is free all day on the first Sunday of the month, as well as every other Sunday after 3:00pm. Audioguides not included on free admission days.
  • Other Tips:
  • There are a variety of museum passes and cards available for visitors to the city, and the Barcelona Card is one that includes this museum.
