El Nacional
El Nacional
What It Is:
A gorgeous food hall in Gracia, featuring four different restaurants and four bars that feature classic Spanish cuisine. Think Eataly…Barcelona-style.

Why We Love It:
Tons of you recommended this place when we first moved to Barcelona. And to be sure, it’s a memorable stop if you’re here for a few days in Barcelona. It’s basically a sweeping, classy, beautiful food hall tucked away on the Passeig de Gracia. And the food there is fantastic.
Granted, I was hoping it would be the sort of place where you could just sample a bite at a handful of restaurants. But nowadays, it’s so busy, and the lines are so long, that you really just have to pick a place or two and settle in there for a meal. We tried the seafood restaurant and the adjacent bar one evening with some friends, and had a lovely time.
Menu Recommendations:
- We had the “El Nacional” signature cocktail at the cocktail bar and loved it.
- We also ordered various tapas and fideua at La Llotja (the seafood restaurant) and really enjoyed them.
Other Tips:
- Their website made it sound like there was no way to get in without reservations. But we went on a weekend and walked up and only had to wait a half hour or so for a table.
