We’ve officially entered the best season of the year to shop for fresh fruit. Which means it’s also the best season of the year to make a gorgeous fresh fruit pizza!
I don’t know about you, but this retro summertime dessert will always be a favorite. And when made with my favorite brown sugar cookie dough (which many of you already know and love!), a quick and dreamy cream cheese frosting, plus whatever juicy fresh fruit your heart desires, this easy fruit pizza recipe is guaranteed to be a hit!
As always when it comes to fruit pizza, the shape, colors and decor style of your fruit pizza are all 100% up to you. You can choose to either bake yours in a quarter sheet pan, a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, or a 12-inch round pizza pan. You can use whatever types of colorful fruit sound good to you. And you are more than welcome to channel your inner Martha and decorate your fruit pizza as intricately as you would like…or, ha, do what I usually do and just sprinkle a bunch of leftover fruit on top in a hurry and call it abstract and good.

Fruit Pizza Ingredients:
Alright, to make this easy fruit pizza recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
Sugar Cookie Fruit Pizza Crust: We will basically just make a batch of my favorite brown sugar cookie dough, which is made with flour, baking powder, salt, butter, brown sugar, egg, vanilla extract and almond extract.
Cream Cheese Frosting: Made with a brick of cream cheese (I prefer to use low-fat), your choice of sweetener (I like to use maple syrup or honey, but powdered sugar works too), and a hint of vanilla extract and salt.
Fruit Topping: You pick — whatever fresh fruits you love best!
(Optional Glaze): Feel free drizzle on a bit of honey as an easy fruit pizza glaze if you would like.
How To Make Fruit Pizza:
Next, let’s talk about how to make fruit pizza! Simply…
Prep the cookie dough. Normal cookie dough vibes — just whisk together the dry ingredients, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, mix in the egg and extracts, and then fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
Press the dough into the pan/dish. Press the dough evenly into your prepared pan, wetting your fingers with water if needed to prevent the dough from sticking to them. (I find it also helps to chill the dough for 10 minutes or so before pressing it into the pan, but that’s optional if you’re wanting to save time.)
Bake. Bake until the dough is lightly golden. Then transfer the cookie crust to a wire baking rack to let it cool.
Prep the frosting and fruit. Whisk together the frosting ingredients until combined. Gather and chop (if necessary) whatever fruit you would like to use as a topping.
Decorate and serve. Then spread on the frosting, sprinkle on the fruit, maybe drizzle with a bit of honey if you’d like, and serve! I find that this pizza tastes best served immediately. (It can start to get a bit soggy after a few hours.) But you’re welcome to store any leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 48 hours.

Make a 4th of July fruit pizza. To make a fun red, white and blue 4th of July fruit pizza, top yours with any combination of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and/or banana. (You can also arrange the berries and bananas in a stars and stripes pattern to make an American flag fruit pizza if you’d like!)
Make a Valentine’s fruit pizza. Slice a bunch of strawberries vertically and then cut out a little upside-down triangle in the top of them to shape the strawberries like hearts for a fun Valentine’s fruit pizza.
Make a Christmas fruit pizza. Top your pizza with any combo of strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, and/or fresh mint leaves.
Make it dairy-free: Just use vegan cream cheese in the frosting instead of traditional (dairy) cream cheese.
Make it healthier: For a more healthy fruit pizza, feel free to use vanilla Greek yogurt as the frosting. I just recommend serving it immediately if you use Greek yogurt, since it will not hold up for quite as long as the cream cheese frosting.
Make fruit pizza cookies: Instead of making one large fruit pizza, you’re welcome to just bake up smaller individual sugar cookies instead, and then top them with the frosting and fruit.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl either with a stand mixer (with the blade attachment) or hand mixer, beat the butter and sugar together on medium-speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the egg, vanilla and almond extract. Beat on medium speed until completely combined, scraping down the sides partway through if needed. Add in the dry ingredients, and beat on low speed until just combined. (Avoid over-mixing the dough.)
Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan/dish*. Use a fork to poke a few holes in the dough, to prevent it from bubbling up. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is lightly golden. Transfer to a wire baking rack to let cool for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, whisk together the frosting ingredients until combined.
Spread the frosting out evenly on the baked cookie crust. Sprinkle with your favorite fruit, and drizzle with a bit of honey if desired. Slice, serve and enjoy!
*Pressing The Dough: It might help to chill the dough for 10 minutes before pressing it into the pan. I also wet my fingers periodically with water to keep the dough from sticking to my fingers.
