My 3-Day Suja Juice Cleanse

Any of you who follow along on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram will know that last week I went on a 3-Day Suja Juice Cleanse!
Yep. For 3 days, I gave up normal food and drinks (no caffeine or alcohol), and instead drank 6 delicious and huge bottles of Suja juices each day. This was my first time doing a “cleanse” or anything like it for 3 whole days. Granted, I love to juice at home, and will often use juices as a replacement for 1 or 2 meals a day. But 3 full days was a different experience, and a very different one when everything is already prepared for you, which I found to be brilliant.
Since I received so many questions from friends and readers about what it was like, thought I would take a minute to share with you a little more about my experience on here. As a disclaimer, I received a complenetary 3-Day Juice Cleanse from Suja, but was not paid to write this review and all opinions are 500% my own. Here we go!
What Is A Suja Juice Cleanse?
I kept asking this question too as I had seen these brightly-colored Suja Juice bottles all over Instagram and social media the past few months. Once I checked our their beautiful website, I learned that Suja actually makes 11 different flavors of organic, raw, cold-pressed juice blends that are super nutrient-dense and full of good enzymes. You can purchase juices individually, or they also sell them in packages or cleanses.
The cleanses are available in a 1-day, 3-day or 5-day option. I decided to go with a 3-day cleanse, which included 3 bottles each of the following juices: Glow, Fuel, Purify, Fiji, Green Supreme, and Vanilla Cloud. They are expensive, but on average, over 2 pounds of fruit and vegetables go into every single bottle of juice. So from someone who knows the cost of regular juicing, I could understand why these organic juices (with their huge servings) typically come in around $9 each.
The goal for the cleanse is that you literally just drink juice and water all day. No coffee, no alcohol, no solid foods — juice juice. But let me tell you, it is a lot of juice!!! And they are crazy yummy.
How Did They Taste?
This was the question everyone asked as I was carrying around these huge bottles of juice each day. (And I ended up giving lots of taste-tests to my friends!!) The six flavors included in my cleanse were:
- Glow: green apple, cucumber, celery, collards, spinach, kale, spearmint
- Fuel: carrot, apple, pineapple, orange, lemon, turmeric
- Purify: carrot, apple, celery, cucumber, lemon, beet
- Fiji: apple, celery, cucumber, spinach, kale, collard greens, lemon, ginger
- Green Supreme: kale, green apple, lemon
- Vanilla Cloud: almond milk, coconut milk, vanilla bean, honey, filtered water
I genuinely loved every single one of them. But I should probably clarify that I have been a juice lover (especially juices with things like beets and kale) for a long time. If you are new to juices with fresh vegetables, some of the flavors may catch you a bit by surprise. (I would especially mention that Purify, with lots of beets in there to give it that bright red flavor, has a pretty strong earthy taste. But I still loved it!)
In general, though, most of the juices are sweet, fruity and fresh-tasting. And then the grand finale of each day, Vanilla Cloud, was an absolute dessert! After drinking so many thin fruit and veggie juices all day, I totally dove into the thick cinnamon-y almond milk juice each evening. Although it was so rich and filling that I couldn’t even finish it each evening. But I was around friends most evenings, and they were happy to help me polish that one off. SO GOOD!
How Did You Feel? Were You Sooooo Hungry Each Day??
Ha, if I had a dollar for each time I was asked this question over the course of three days. In a nutshell…
I felt awesome. 97% of the time. I don’t know if it was related or not, but on the afternoon of Day 2, I had a pretty fierce headache that was really bumming me out. It could have been unrelated, but I did decide to “cheat” briefly and ate a handful of peanuts, and then felt a little better. Take that as you will. I think in any sort of fast or cleanse like this, the second day is often when your energy dips as your body is getting used to the new rhythm. But goodness, overall I felt incredible. By the end of Day 3, I felt really refreshed, full of energy, lighter, and as cliche as it may sound, I just felt healthy. And what’s more — that feeling has lasted over the course of a week! I think that taking a few days to get out of the rut of a few bad habits (too much snacking, too much coffee, too many sweets) really helped and encouraged me to stick with it afterwards. So bottom line…I felt great.
I think the most amusing thing about this experience was that all of my friends were initially concerned that I was starving myself. Definitely not true. If you are worried about being hungry, let me put those fears to rest right now — you will be SO FULL of juice! First of all, these bottles are huge. I had to keep mine by my side each day and remind myself to keep drinking so that I would finish one before it was time for the next. They are very large. And second of all, they are very filling. And as you can see by the nutrition fact, most of the juices averaged about 140 calories, so you are still getting energy there.
The one thing I missed (which occasionally made me think I was hungry, but not true) was something to chew and something warm. It was definitely an adjustment to “drink” your calories each day, and cold calories at that. I think this cleanse would be more difficult in the winter when everything is already cold, but in the spring or summer it was refreshing.
So Would You Do It Again?
Yes!!! I feel like I would love to do the 3-day cleanse maybe a few times a year. But I was telling my friends that I would definitely love to do the 1-day cleanse more often — even monthly.
I would like to try making some of these ingredient combinations at home for a 1-day cleanse (and maybe just sticking with repeating 1 or 2 batches of juice, rather than going to the trouble of making 6).
But I have to say that the absolute brilliance of Suja — and in my opinion, the reason I was able to stay with it for 3 days — was that they do all of the work for you. Oh my goodness. As someone who cooks a lot, I can’t even tell you how wonderful it was to not have to think about what food I was going to make for 3 entire days. And what’s more, they have not only thought it through, they have created a delicious “menu” of flavors to enjoy throughout the day. AND if you want, they’ll ship the juices right to your doorstep.
They literally couldn’t make it easier. And in my book, that sort of convenience can definitely be worth the cost.
So yes, I am 100% hooked and look forward to buying more Suja juices to sprinkle throughout my days. And then I love the idea of getting into a rhythm of doing a cleanse to start each new season — summer, fall, winter, spring.
Questions?
If you have any questions about trying a Suja Juice Cleanse, be sure to check out Suja’s website and their FAQ page, where they answer tons of questions about juicing, cleansing and health. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Pinterest.
Or you are always welcome to tweet or email me! I am far from being an expert, but I am happy to offer any opinions into my experience.
If you have been thinking about Suja, I would encourage you to give it a try!!!
Disclaimer: This page contains affiliate links. Suja also provided me with a complementary 3-Day Cleanse, but I was not compensated to write this review and all opinons are my own. I am also NOT a doctor, and only speak about how this affected my health from personal experience. So please consult your doctor if you have any medical-related questions about going on a juice cleanse. The end. :)
I’m so glad you posted this! I am doing a 1-day juice cleanse tomorrow with Juice Nashville. They seem very similar. I wasn’t brave enough to try the 3-day, just yet, lol! I’m so looking forward to it and hope I enjoy it as much as you enjoyed this one.
I’ve been so curious about this! So many people only cleanse to lose weight and end up quite sick for the week. Glad to hear that this one turned out great. Not gonna lie, I totally want to try it.
I love hearing about your experience. It sounds truly awesome. I need to try it!!
I would seriously love to do this! I think I would have to start with the one day cleanse though- I’m not as brave as you!! Thanks for all the details!
Could NOT be happier with my experience on Suja either, Ali. Thanks so much for introducing me to it! Feeling energetic, refreshed, light, rejuvenated, and overall… just very clean! The juices certainly make you cold! Warm peppermint tea warmed me up though. Hoping I can afford this on a regular basis, this feeling is unbelievable!
And their taste? I LOVE it. I never drank veggie juices before and I found these exceptionally delish. So much fruit! And I love that you can read exactly what is in your drink, how many carrots, apples, etc.
Thanks Ali! I was intrigued when I saw you start the cleanse on Instagram. My sister and I have placed an order to do the three day cleanse next weekend. I have to admit I felt a little fear since I have never done a juice cleanse before. Thanks to your review I am more excited than ever!
I’ve been wanting to do a cleanse for a while, but haven’t done it yet, how fun!
These juice combinations sound so incredibly delicious!! I hate to say it, if I didn’t have to cook for my husband and son every day I would be purchasing this right now! (Not sure I have enough will power to watch them eat – lol.) I LOVE THIS!!
I’ve done one 3 day juice cleanse and although it was hard (especially because I still had to cook for my family), I loved it! I want to do one again when I’m done nursing. :)
I was waiting on this post! I’ve never tried a juice cleanse and I think that needs to change!
I’ve been wanting to do a juice cleanse! Will have to look into Suja! Thanks for the review!
I need to do this!
I love juicing! I usually juice with a 1200 cal a day diet so you are not starving at all. I think a one day a month cleanse is a great idea. It sort of re-sets your body.
my husband and i are going to do the 3-day cleanse. cannot wait to enjoy yummy juices and feel healthy! :) thanks for sharing your experience!
I love fresh veggie juice but these flavors sound awesome, especially vanilla!!
My sister and I are having a “sister’s spa weekend” at the beach and doing the 3 day cleanse, in part because of this blog. After reading it, I’m very excited. I often drink fresh smoothies as meal replacements, so I think this will be easy (ish) for me.
More power to the girl who can go days without eating, but she just ain’t me. Looks like you had a great experience though! Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to just mayyybe try it in the future. The juices look yummy!
Where do they sell it..I want to try it.
I am on day 1 of the 3-day cleanse and HAD to eat some food! I’ve eaten homemade chicken broth and a banana. I’m also craving A cup of coffee! Did you lose any weight after your cleanse and if so, were you able to keep it off and for how long?
Thanks!
I completed a 3 day cleanse yesterday. I really felt good. I lost about 3 pounds on the cleanse.
Great review! The color of those juices make me want to drink them!! I love the idea of sprinkling these in through the day weh a quick meal is needed! I would love to get my hands on some of this juice, you have convinced me!
As the body is detoxing with the juice cleanse, are they any other side effects besides headaches as toxins ar flowing thru the bloodstream like the runs, upset stomach and nausea?
Elsa,
I just started the Suja cleanse today. I was looking for a cleanse& I was at Whole Foods, and they happened to be doing a $1 per bottle ($8.99 plus tax), or buy 5 bottles get 1 free. Price wise, I think this is cheaper, to me, in comparison to the BluePrint Cleanse and other similar on market. Anyway, they had someone there, giving samples, and telling you how it works, but she did not give me ALL the correct info.
Each bottle is 2 servings to start (I am not clear if you are supposed to drink it all, or just 1 serving. I just drank 1 at breakfast, and lunch, I drank a whole..I was a little hungry), also I did not get all of the different juice flavors, not by choice, I think they had sold out of some, so she just put together a case. She focused on the Breakfaat/Lunch/Dinner juices, and said to drink 1/2 a bottle, at each meal, and “you’ll feel great”. She said a 4 day cleanse is just 6 bottles of juice, but that is if you only do a 3 meal per day, 1/2 a bottle per meal. Thankfully I got more.
A pamphlet was tucked away in my case, and I read about during the cleanse, you can drink the “mid a.m”, “mid afternoon”, and the dessert.
I ended up grabbing those just now.
Side effects. So far, I haven’t had any, but I expect to have a headache tomorrow, maybe, there’s always a chance of your skin breaking out a little, since your body is ridding itself of all of the toxins, and I will say that midday today, I had to go to the bathroom, but it wasn’t an “emergency”, but I was told that it shouldn’t be too harsh on your tummy. Some say they feel like they are coming down with something on day 2, but those are just normal complaints when doing something like this.
It does say that you should alkalize your body w/ a warm glass of water with lemon and/or a tbsp of apple cider vinegar, which I did (the a.m. before you begin your first juice). The pamphlet also says in between meals to drink plenty of water, tea (it’s not specific on what kinds). I’ve had some green tea this a.m., a ton of water, and I had more tea (Get Relief by The Republic of Tea, it works great for digestion, I love it), but that’s about it.
Now that I think about it, I feel like my digestive tract is feeling like it’s “getting alive”, so to be 100% honest, I bet going to the bathroom will be part of this, but I don’t think it’s going to be where you are afraid to leave the house.
Last, but not least, they suggest that you prepare a day or 2 prior to doing the cleanse, so eliminate junk food, sugar, coffee etc, and eat more clean, and you won’t be hit as hard with the side effects.
I know you didn’t ask for so many details, but I just stumbled upon this, and I happen to be doing this right now. You may have already tried it, since it’s been a few weeks since your post. Take care, and good luck!
WHERE CAN I PURCHASE THIS. I LIVE IN UTAH
Good Earth has them.
They look amazing. I love how red that beet juice is, and the coconut almond milk sounds divine.
These actually look really delicious! I’ve never done a cleanse before, but have been thinking about it in prep for some summer vacations (or maybe after I get back from Vegas!)… If I was going to do one, I think 3 days would be my max and Suja looks perfect because the juices actually look delicious and satisfying!
It seems like there are so many juice companies these days, but these all sound fabulous! I want to try one eventually. I just hope I can stand all of them. I am not a fan of juices that taste too vegetably, lol!
I’d love to have the opportunity to try their cleanse! Yum!
Oh wow, these look and sound delicious!
Hmmm… I love juices, but $162 seems like a pretty penny for three days of juice. I have a juicer, which I haven’t used for several weeks now, and I loved the juices I was making (I really need to get back into the habit). I’m not sure if I would ever do a juice fast, love food too much! :) But all the power to you and thanks for sharing your experience!
I think cleanses can be a vital part of a regular, healthy diet. And what a fun way to do it! Thanks for sharing about your experience!
Ali I just love this review! I can’t wait to try one!!
I just happened to stumble on your site through Pinterest and found this review. I’m a “FSND” (Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead) juicer and could use something to give my current menu a shake up. These look delicious! The thought of not having to prepare all of the produce myself is VERY tempting. I’ll be on the lookout for how I can order these. Thanks for the review!
How can I order this
Definitely want to try this when I’m done nursing!
I just got a bottle of the Glow and a bottle of the Purify today and was going to try them to see if I liked the flavor. I love kale and celery and cucumber, spearmint and everything else in it. But I took a sip, gagged and thought ok, let me try that again. Took another sip, gagged then threw up. I don’t know why that happened. I usually make smoothies with kale and fresh organic fruits and veggies everyday and never have any problems drinking it. But this…I just couldn’t actually get it back my esophagus. They aren’t cheap either. $9 each bottle. I tried the purify today as well and I gagged, and didn’t try it again. Maybe it was the collards in it. I’ve never had them before, so maybe that was it. But there wasn’t much in there. So…
I really liked this review. Im currently on a self made cleanse myself and wanted to check out how other people were currently feeling on 3 day cleanses. my suggestion is next time reach for almonds instead of peanuts. peanuts are high allergen food and are usually on the no list when doing sorts of fasts, cleanses and clean eat… and with juice cleanses you are currently giving your body a break from any sort of food to heal things inside.
How can I order this?
Go to sujajuice.com. :)
Next time try heating up the Vanilla Cloud, that’s what I do! It’s makes a yummy warm drink!
I love the juice i have bought pretty much all the flavors. My concern is the amount of sugar from the fruit side of the juice. I have noticed the twelve Essentials brand does not have a huge amount of sugar but there is no Apple juice and only 35 calories per serving. Would there be any other items with less sugar?
I am go happy to have read your review on this cleanse because I am starting it tomorrow!! I fear the “no coffee”in the morning but will give it my all and do my best to resist the urge to have coffee!!
That is my fear as well! How is it going?
Hi There,
I not only want to shock my body and start fresh with this juice cleanse but I’m also wanting to lose weight. Was there any weight loss in the 3 days that you did this?
I have done the cleanse and it is amazing. I now do it every month usually on a Monday, the one day cleanse, and it is truly a great way to keep your body in check. Even after the one day cleanse you wake up the following day feeling energetic, and in a few days you see a change in your skin. I have now incorporated so many more vegetables and fruits in my regular diet because of what I felt in the juicing. I highly recommend this to anyone!
As a Gym owner and 20 year personal trainer I get asked about these fasts, diets etc all the time. My Club has 100 members at this time.
I just recommended the 3 day to a member for a quick weight loss before going on her honeymoon. She lost 3 1/2 pounds. Not bad for some one with 21% body fat.
My question for you is about sugar. ( I will ask Suja as well). Each Bottle comes with around 30 Grams of sugar, x 6 bottles = 180 grams a day. Way over the limit. Your body has to break this down, insulin spikes, sugar crashes etc. And how do you still lose weight if you are consuming so much sugar.
I do smoothies and juicing almost daily and have for years, but never been able to do juicing alone for even one full day – I feel like I have to chew something lol……but I want to try this – went to a store that their site said had it yesterday, about 75 miles from my home and they didn’t, so hopefully going to try another in the next day or two – sounds like a plan, although I like making them myself as it is, but this sounds very convenient, and would like to do maybe a 1 day a week, or a 3 day a month, if I could :)
We found this on Facebook, said it was at Kroger grocers, haven’t found it yet. Drove over 50 miles to one that said they had it & they didn’t. :-( Still looking! :-)
I’m a Suja employe and I have been working there for over a year witch makes me one of the few Suja veterans it’s been great watching us grow and seeing the impact that we are having on people’s lives! Thank you all for your support!
Thanks for your insight! I tried a different version of their juice cleanse, and I was looking into trying another. And I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only person suffering from the world’s worst headache on day two!
This is really wonderful except for the fact, you are consuming an insane amount of sugar. And with the cleanse packages, way over the limit, best told by Wayne in these comments. I don’t think it does a good service to the body. A lot of people seemed to be fooled about ohh it’s organic and cold pressed, which is great and I personally always advocate for such things But the nutrients are actually almost non existent in these drinks. Once again it’s the sugar that’s packed in this which gives you the feeling of energy and it’s addicting to the brain like cocaine. That is a good product tactic suja, but still at the same time deceitful to the people consuming this product. There’s almost the same amount of sugar in a coca cola soda bottle.
Suja juices are indeed delicious! I purchased them at a Wild By Nature on sale…$7.00 a bottle!
I did feel healthy and refreshed on the inside after drinking them.
Okay, you convinced me! I’m ordering now :)
Thank you for sharing your experience. I, along with my abs and glutes fitness class, will be participating in the Suja 3 Day Juice Cleanse. I’m praying that each of us have positive experiences cuch as yourself. Thanks again!
Awesome! Let me know how it goes! :)
