Many of you know that the reason I got into cooking (and now the reason I blog) is because I so strongly believe in the profound blessing that good food can be when shared with those you love.
So I am truly excited to introduce to you the newly-released cookbook for this week’s giveaway — “The Good Neighbor Cookbook”. Written by my friends, Suzanne and Sara, this cookbook celebrates the idea that “homemade food is a labor or love, but it need not be laborious”. Agreed!! So they have compiled a creative, easy and super-delicious collection of recipes to be shared, organized in chapters such as:

MY favourite recipe to give a neighbor is one that was given to ME by a neighbor several years ago. CHOCOLATE CHIP CHEESECAKE! It was so good that I begged for the recipe and now it’s my families #1 requested dessert. People are so blessed,as I was when I got my first one, by the thoughtful gift of time spent baking a real cheesecake ….there’s really no substitute for a caring neighbor!

The recipe I love to share with new neighbors – hoenstly, that depends on the neighbor. On one side, I actually invited him and his son over for a BBQ and we ended up swapping rib recipes. The other side of the house, I shared a family “brownie/cookie” recipe. I don’t think there’s one generic recipe to be shared, though. Life would be too boring if there was!

I randomly found your blog and have loved following it and trying your recipes. My favorite neighbor-sharing recipe is my Mother’s Pumpkin Roll which is a standard Christmas goodie in my house!

My favorites to take to people are lasagna, green chile chicken enchilada casserole, or taco soup! All make enough for a large family (esp. if extended family is in town for the event, or can be enough for multiple meals if it’s a smaller family. LOVE this cookbook idea!!

Well…if I’m going for something sweet, I’ll usually make either raspberry filled cookies or scandinavian almond bars. Both get very good feedback…but if I want to share something savory, white chicken chili or my mom’s special rice recipe (it has bacon…nobody can say no to bacon!).
COOKIES! of any kind, but usually involving chocolate somehow :)

The most requested one is a boursin cheese and fig jam appetizer, but I am not sure it qualifies as a recipe since it is so easy!
My favorite meal to cook for neighbors or friends is chicken fettucinne with cheesy garlic bread, steamed broccoli, and oatmeal m&m brownies.
Mentiramivida6 at yahoo dot com. I love whipping up things noone would think of doing and making others try it. Last summer I made stuffed peppers with pasta (usually it’s stuffed with rice). Some were not sure it would pair well but they could not stop eating them once they ate one :)
Homemade banane bread mini-loafs.
Pepperoni Pizza Puffs are a huge hit, I have to make them all the time when I get together with my crew to watch sporting events.
I love to share freshly baked zucchini bread, a great way to get rid of that bumper crop in the summer.
